The only thing I can think of is a conflict with another plugin… but I don’t see how that would be possible. A couple questions…
Are you using Connections 8.1.5?
Did you try deactivating all other plugins temporarily to see if the issue resolves itself?11/27/2014 at 6:02 pm #311021mike
Guestthanks yes a conflict
it turned out to be Custom Upload Dir ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-upload-dir/ )
It hasn’t be upgraded in a long time so I didn’t think to look here. HOwever it is only tested as a WP3.8 plugin so I guess the combination of WP 4 and this caused the problem.thanks again

I looked at that plugins code … I do not really see a reason for it not to be compatible with WP 4. I do see why there is a conflict with Connections though. We both set and use custom paths for the upload folder. The Custom Upload Dir plugin just happens to run after Connections so the custom path is changed. It’s a relatively easy fix for me to make sure no other plugins can override my custom path. I’ll make sure that fix works it way into 8.1.6. I probably even do it today so it is fresh in my mind.

I know it’s been awhile … but I dug deeper in the conflict with Custom Upload Dir. I made it so it will no longer override the Connections upload path. The fix will also ensure any other similar plugins will not affect Connections either. Additionally, my fix will not break the other plugins, they’ll continue to work just as they have.
Good stuff.
