Hi there – I’ve been contracted to work on a site using Connections Pro and the cMap template. The client wishes for the entries to be ordered by country/state/city, which was easy enough to implement via the shortcode, however the headings for each entry still show by alpha – which is really confusing and makes the entries look un-sorted.
Is there any way to change the headings to match the sort order? In this case, we’d need the headings to be by State (so, all the California entries would show under that and then be alpha by city… etc… and international entries would hopefully be able to group under country and have that be the heading…).
I’m hoping there’s an easy setting for this that I’m missing. If it requires extra coding and you could walk me through the how and where, I can probably fix it up myself. I am a master at pasting code, lol.
The short answer is, the character index sis not compatible with any custom sort ordering.
The only real solution is not to use it, sorry. Also, there is not a way to do grouping either and their isn’t any code I could give for you to copy paste as this would quite an extensive edit. The best I can do point you to where the code exists for the current code. The output is here and here. The character index is created here.
I hope that helps, even if just a little bit!
