GuestHi,
I was wondering whether there was an easy way to set up an opt out option for members who chose not to be in the directory any more. Also wanted to know whether integrating Connections to a member registration form is possible (so that members are automatically included in the directory)
Thanks,

If you are using the Link extension to allow the user to add and maintain their entry, the user can change their entry to “Unlisted” from the Link Profile admin page.
Hope this helps!

GuestThanks Steven for the quick reply. Currently I’m not using Connections for my website, will I be able to retrieve the information from my existing registered users and add them to the plugin?
Thanks again,

RE: will I be able to retrieve the information from my existing registered users and add them to the plugin?
Sorry, no. Generally a WP User account does not contain enough info to create directory entries since the user account only requires a username and password. Connections requires at least a first and last name. If you users contain their first and last names, then you could use a WP User CSV Export plugin to export the info and then use the CSV Import extension for Connections to import that CSV file.

Guestok,
but assuming that I were able to export them to CSV and import to Connections, would I need to change the way that new members register to use Form extension so that the directory would be updated automatically, right?

No, user would still register as normal and login as normal as Link utilizes the WP User account to link the user to the directory entry. That is how it is known which entry the user is permitted to edit.

GuestTrying to wrap my head around how this would work (sorry for the multiple questions).
When a new user decides to register as a member (currently using WP users) will a new Connections entry be created in the directory for them? Or will I have to create these new entries manually (which would then link to the user and let them modify as you explained above)?
Thanks again,

RE: When a new user decides to register as a member (currently using WP users) will a new Connections entry be created in the directory for them?
No, it will not be created for them. This is because the WP registration only requires a username and password. Connections requires a first and last name or org name (based on entry type). So, there is no enough info available to auto create a Connections entry for the WP user on registration.
RE: Or will I have to create these new entries manually (which would then link to the user and let them modify as you explained above)?
You could do it that way, or, you could opt to let the user to choose add their own entry (assuming you have the Link extension which is require to allow a user to add/edit and maintain their own entry.)
Not sure if my answer helps clear this up for you but I hope it does.
