ParticipantI am presently using the shortcode filter [connections category_name='Families'] to filter a list of Members to only display Family records that I have tagged as “Families” Each Family Member record has one or more “Relations” associate to it using the “Family” record format. I am using the Slim template and I only want to show a list of the Family records and filter out the linked “Relation” Individuals. However, when you click one of the linked “Individual” Related records in the Family record, instead of displaying the linked “Individual” record because it gets filtered out by the earlier short code.
Any way to open the linked individual record in a new page or template avoiding the filtering?

Yes, is what you need to do is create a second page, lets call it the “Results” page. You would add just the
[connections]shortcode with no options. When creating this page take note of the page ID number. After the page is created edit your original filter. Add the home_id option to it. So you would have this:[connections category_name="Families" home_id="X"], where X would equal the “Results” page ID number. What neat with this split page setup is that you can now use a separate template to show the results. You would just add the template option to the “Results” page shortcode like so[connections template="card-bio"].Hope that helps!

GuestThat did the trick. Thanks very much for the quick reply. Just had the chance to make the changes tonight. Worked perfectly.

GuestI have another issue and I’m not sure if it is related to this process so I thought I’d add to this thread. If unrelated I would be happy to start a new thread. When displaying the “bio-card” when logged in as an “Administrator” role, the email address displays as desired. However, when logged in as a non “Administrator”, the email address does not display. Any ideas what could be causing this?

The email address… did you set the email address as private or unlisted? Set as unlisted only the admin can see. Set as private, that would depend on what roles you gave permissions to see private under the Connections : Roles admin page.

GuestDo’h! Spot on again. I forgot there was a separate setting at the e-mail level beyond the record level. Thanks again. Great plugin. I’m going to post a very positive review.

Many thanks for the review! Every now and again the multi-level visibility trips up people. I added because it is a great way to have public info while keeping more sensitive data behind a login.
