If at all possible, can you create a small table in the settings area that allows an admin to put in a connections ID and a user ID to link them together?

I know how it works, but that’s now how my site is setup. The user creates themselves as a member though another plugin and then they click on Add Listing (to create a directory entry). But that doesn’t link them to the one they enter. I have to manually do it through the DB.

A quick tool to create a link or break a link would be great!!!

This other plugin to allow the user to register themselves… does it auto log the user in? If they are not logged in when you direct the user to the Add Entry page, it will in fact not be linked to them because they are not actually logged in.

I’d have to have more detail on your user registration process flow in order to understand why the entry they add are not being linked.

I do agree. Then I go to sleep that night and have nightmares about admins trying to use the tool to link multiple users to the same entry or visa versa, maybe even both. Then filling my inbox on why it does not work.

No, on more serious note… I really have thought about this. The best solution I think I can come up with is adding an option on the User Profile page with a drop down to allow an admin to choose and entry to link to. AND on the Entry Edit page add a new box with a drop down with all WP Users for the admin to choose to link the entry to.

What’s stopped from from actually adding this is select dropdowns do not scale well so it would not work for admin who have hundreds of users and hundreds, or more, of entries. With scaling in mind this means I need some sort of ajax process that can return a list of user/entries based on search as the user types (I guess). It is a tough nut to crack… even the Gutenberg team is going in round in circles looking for a solution. If you do not know, Gutenberg is the new editor coming in the next WP major release. Perhaps when they settle on a solution, I’ll be able to piggyback off it.

Here is the process:
1. They click a payment option (links to paypal)
2. After payment they receive a registration link
3. They click on the registration link to complete the user creation process.
4. They log into the site
5. They click on the Add Entry link (only visible to logged in users)
6. They add their entry, but aren’t linked to it.

I hear you about the different use cases. Hopefully the next big release will make it easier.
