ParticipantI (Chamber of Commerce) purchased the Pro Pack and am trying to figure out how to list our businesses/organizations alphabetically by the business name (using any/all of the templates. It appears to highlight the contact name over the business/organization name. Can you help me make this happen? :)
Thank you for any advice!

Enter your businesses as Organizations. Put the contact name i the Contact First and Contact Last names field. The entries will be listed by their name.
Hope this helps! Let me know.

ParticipantThanks much, Steven, I have done that but I would rather have entries listed by the organization – not the contact.

Adding the businesses as Organizations will list them by the business name, not the contact name. This is how it will be sorted by default. It is not actually possible to sort Organizations by their contact name at this time.
What is the exact shortcode you are using to embed the directory on the page?
Can you share a link to your directory page so I can see?

ParticipantHi Steven:
Thanks so much for your help. Here is the link using the Cmap template: http://martinsvillechamber.com/member-directory/I am using this shortcode: [connections]
Thanks again! Jamie

The businesses have been added as “Individuals”. You need to add the businesses as “Organizations”
https://connections-pro.com/documentation/adding-an-entry/#Choose_an_Entry_Type
- Add a new entry, choose the “Organization” entry type in the Publish box.
- Add the business name to the Organization name field.
- Add the contact name to the Contact First and Last name fields.
This does mean you’ll have to fix all of the entries.
A hacky workaround that might be usable, you could try changing the default sort order like this:
[connections order_by='organization']
Hope this helps!

ParticipantSteven, thank you so much for responding so quickly! The “hack-around” shortcode did the trick! You just saved me a ton of time and I appreciate it. Have a great day!
