We are a non profit (The Association of Ontario Locksmiths), and have a new site designed by DIT Canada. A vital component of our site (Find a Locksmith) uses your Plugin.
We need the ability to search by two criteria; Region (location), and Service (service offered/desired i.e. residential/safe/commercial). What we have right now is one Category List with two parent categories (Region, Services). This is not working for us. I think we need two separate category lists.11/24/2018 at 3:41 pm #477742Steven ZahmKeymaster
I took a look … but I think I may not understand what you are asking. When looking at the site, it appears to have already been customized to filter by two dropdowns. Could you please give additional details?11/28/2018 at 11:13 am #478114Phil White – Vice PresidentGuest
Hi Steve, Thanks for your reply. Here’s our issue: when ‘joe public’ searches for a locksmith, they select a region, and service. Presently the Category list is set up as Service Region (Parent), and Services (parent). But both of those parents are selectable (checkboxes). So in the search results it shows like this:
Categories: Brant , CCTV Technician, Commercial Locksmith, Haldimand , Halton , Hamilton , Niagara , Peel , Residential Locksmiths, Security/Access Card Systems, Services, Toronto , Waterloo , York
(Ignore for the moment that we have not yet set up the ‘order’ to keep the regions in front of the ‘services’.)
What I would like is more like this:
Regions: Brant, Haldimand, Halton, etc.
Services: Residential Locksmith, Security/Access Card Systems, etc.
Do we need an additional Plugin to have a separate Category list, and separate display of each??
Thanks11/28/2018 at 12:02 pm #478121Steven ZahmKeymaster
Install this addon (download by click the green button):
After you activate the addon, navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Advanced tab.
Click on the
Service Regioncategory in the list.
CRTL+click on the
Save the changes.
Click the Display tab and enable the
Servicesblocks in BOTH the Result List and Entry Content blocks sections.
Save the changes.
Use the cMap template Customizer and turn off the display of the Categories, Publish the change and exit the Customizer.
Hope this helps!
