ParticipantHi Steven,
I’m making good progress with the Directory but I’m finding it hard to work out what I need to do to achieve the following (if possible)…
At the moment I have only one category – “Practitioners” The text search works fine for a search of one of the following:
Country, State / County or City.
I’d like to be able to filter the search with drop downs so a user can select a Country or City Or County Or State.
Does that mean I need to create Sub Categories i.e. Top-level – Practitioner then subs i.e. Country, State, County, City etc? before the Multiple category search Plugin would allow me to select one of the above in a search?
Sorry such a basic question but I’m struggling to visualise how to do this with drop down selectors.

Do you have a copy of the multiple category search plugin? I can not find where it has been sent to you. If I did send you a copy, It would have included the instructions on how to enable the search state/country fields.

KeymasterUpdate the multiple category search shortcode to include the state/country options set to true. Here’s an example:
[cn_multi_category_search enable_region=true enable_country=true]
Add the
enable_region=true enable_country=true
to the existingcn_multi_category_search
shortcode instance, do not add it as another instance.Hope this helps!
ps. Which email address did I email the download link and instructions to for the multiple category search?

KeymasterThe shortcode is not valid:
[cn_multi_category_search category="x| enable_country=true enable_region=true enable_city=true enable_zipcode=false]
You need to remove
category="x|
since that is only partial fragment of the category option.The states are pulled from actually addresses added to entries? have you added full addresses to any entries? If you have, make sure they have the state field populated.
Hope this helps, let me know.

KeymasterProbably the only real advantage of dropdowns vs the free text input is users will be able to find entries without the worry of misspelling countries/states.
If you can share a link to the page, I’ll take a look. I suspect it is a CSS conflict.

KeymasterI found a bug in the multi category search addon. I’m not 100% certain if it could be the cause, but I would like to correct it on you site. Hopefully it fix this issue.
Could you please create a temp admin account using this plugin:

Reply back as a private reply with the login link and I’ll fix the bug.
