ParticipantHi Steven,
I moved the development site for http://www.ifsguild.org to a new directory and made it ‘live’ yesterday, using the Velvet Blues plugin to replace the old URLs throughout the site. It worked everywhere but in the content of the Bio (now labeled ‘Details’) and the ‘read more’ link at the end of the excerpt. Old URL was ifsguild.org/newsite/clone2/ and new URL should be ifsguild.org/FengShui/
Consultant Directory: http://www.ifsguild.org/FengShui/feng-shui-consultant-directory/feng-shui-consultant-directory-2/
School Directory (with embedded links in Bio): http://www.ifsguild.org/FengShui/feng-shui-school-directory/feng-shui-school/
If you can point me to the template code to make the change, or suggest a way to get the ‘read more’ link corrected I can manually update the links embedded in the School bios since there are only 20 or so schools to check.
Thanks in advance,

Could you explain how the “read more” links were created? They appear to have been “hard coded” in the notes field of the entry.

ParticipantI think the excerpted text used to read “Continue Reading”. Basically it is the link from the directory listing to the Single card. I was wondering if deactivating and reactivating the plugin would refresh the url pathways?

So, let me ask the question this way…
Edit an entry which has a read more link. Navigate to the Notes field. Is the read more link added to the notes? This is what I mean by “hard coded. You manually added the link to the notes field. Is this how those links were added?

re: There is a hard-coded link added to the “Excerpt” Field. (not my idea, by the way)
Ok, you’ll have to manually edit these links, unless, the plugin you using to replace URLs works on custom table field.
re: There is a larger problem, possibly caused by the Link plugin. I cannot VIEW the listings from the “Manage” dashboard.
How to explain…
You have two directory pages using categories to separate them, which is fine.
You have the school directory page set as the directory home page. All the admin “View” links will resolve to the school directory page. Now because categories are bine used to limit which entries are to be displayed, any entries not assign to the school directory category will result in a not found. There’s really no way to define which page the “View” link should resolve to because the “View” link has no “knowledge” of how the shortcode has been configured to limit which entries which can be displayed.
Trying viewing an entry from the manage page which is assigned to school directory category. It’ll display just fine.
Hopefully that make sense!

ps.
One way to work around this limitation is to create a directory page with no shortcode limitations, ie. just
[connections]and set that page as the directory home page. -
