ParticipantI’ve moved a site to another server using phpMyAdmin to export and import Conections. I’m using the same domain name with a different IP number. I’m using the cMap template with the SiteShot addon and most of it is functioning as it did on the old server. However- If you look at http://earlychamber.com/members/ you’ll notice that starting on the first page of the directory, most of the website thumbnails are displaying but some are not. A few keep trying to generate but never do. A few just have blank space where the thumbnail should be. I’ve gone through and checked the “Edit Entry” forms on both old and new locations and except for 1 thing they both appear to be the same. The one thing I’ve found different is that the all entries came over with either the “Individual” or no radio button highlighted when they should they all should have “organization” checked. I’m going through and manually changing them but it seems to make no difference on the actual display. Any Ideas what I might be missing here?

The SiteShot extension uses wordpress.org mshot to create the thumbnails. These thumbs are created and cached by that service for 24–48 hours. If the site is down or at the time of creating the thumbnail, you’ll see the 404 thumbnail until the cache expires and the thumbnail is recreated. I have no control over the cached files and their expiration.
I browsed the first 5-6 pages of your directory and I think there are only 4 404/s and 2 “blanks” when visiting those sites half were (still?) down, so, everything does seem in order order… unless I am misunderstanding the issue.
I hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks Stephen- I resolved several issues since I first posted but a few still have me stumped. I did find that several of the sites were ligitimate 404s but if you look at http://earlychamber.com/members/ and notice the first entry for 3M shows a blank spot where the thumbnail should be but clicking on it takes you to the web site. Down a little on the page the entry for AirTemp Refrigeration shows a 404 image but clicking on it goes to the correct website. Also on http://earlychamber.com/members/pg/4/, Center For Life Resources shows a blank image but clicking on it take you to the correct web site. If I understand your first reply the AirTemp 404 may resolve itself but what about the actual blank images?
Thanks for your help,

Yes, I believe these will resolve themselves… I think the white thumbs are the result of the page taking too long to load so the white is just a thumb of that blank screen you see until the page is loaded. My guess is the service only waits so long before doing the capture.
Honestly though… this is the first time I’ve seen this. I just checked my template demo pages and there are some white thumbs there too. So maybe there was a change in the wordpress.org service that creates the thumbs recently… my best guess as I do not have any control over the service that actually creates the thumbs.
I’ll keep an eye on it and if it seems like it is becoming too unreliable, I’ll have to retire SiteShot.

ParticipantOK- I resolved almost all of the migration issues by going back and editing entries that had problems and in some cases only clicked update without any actual editing. The one problem that remains is that I’m using the “User Role Editor” plugin by Vladimir Garagulya. On the old server I had these fields to give user permissions for Connections-
connections_add_entry
connections_add_entry_moderated
connections_change_roles
connections_change_settings
connections_delete_entry
connections_edit_categories
connections_edit_entry
connections_edit_entry_moderated
connections_manage
connections_manage_template
connections_view_dashboard
connections_view_menu
connections_view_private
connections_view_public
connections_view_unlistedAt the new installation the only field I have to give permissions to is-
connections_view_public
Even though my client has administrator privileges I can’t give her permission to access Connections back end. I as Super-Admin still have the same boxes as on the old site. Any Idea what I might be missing here?
Thanks,

I highly recommend using a plugin like BackupBuddy or Duplicator when moving site as they take care of all the little things that need done when moving a site from one server to another. WP stores quite a few things in the options table that is site specific. One of those being role capabilities.
If you are moving just Connections from one site to another. I would do what you did, export the tables and then import them (as SQL files). The one thing though, on the destination site I would install and activate Connections first and when you do the import, drop all the Connections table first.
Any way to answer you question…
This should be able to be fixed by going to the Connection : Roles admin page and checking the Reset All Role Capabilities option and then clicking the Update button. That should reinstall all the role capabilities and set them to their defaults.
