GuestWe have over 700 employees, and the directory itself comes up quickly. However, it will take almost a minute or two for the pictures to populate. We see a spinning arrow while it waits for the pictures to load. The images are small in size (about 14kb each). Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

700 hundred, all on one page? I hope you’re using using some page caching. Connections uses a little javascript to do the loading effect. The delay is only 1/10 of a sec. But if you have 700 images all on one page, I guess that works out to about 70 seconds … actually scratch that …
Which template are you using? If you’re using one of the default templates, those images will show right away. Only the templates that create the images on the fly have the loading effect, which then the above would apply. But if you’re using one of those templates and you have that many entries, I think you would better suited to use one that support paginated results.
Sorry, for rambling on, but I’m going to need a few more details before I can give a solution. Can you share a link to your directory?

GuestHi Stephen,
Thank you for your quick reply.
The template we are using is named…Default Entry Card 1.0.
What other the templates use a paginated result? And how do these paginate?

All of the “Plus” templates, cMap and Market support pagination. Not sure what you mean by how they paginate … by default after 20 entries the results will be paginated with only 20 entries being shown at a time. Does that answer the question?

GuestYes it does – thanks!

GuestOne last question:
If I wanted to convert to the Tiles Plus template, will it still see the 700 employees that were originally done with the Default Entry Card 1.0? Just don’t want to have to enter in the 700 employees all over again.

You can change templates for Connections as often as you wish, they only display the content/data already entered in Connections. So, yes, you can switch from the default template to Tile Plus without having to re-enter the employees. Hope that helps.
