ParticipantHi,
When I go into the Advanced Connections options and enable any of the optional Links (for example, the Department link) and then try to follow the link via an employee’s connection listing, the link fails. Please see attached screenshot.
I’m using the latest version of Connections (0.8.6) and the latest version of WordPress (3.9.1). I’m also using the Tile Plus Template (3.1). Of note, I’m running WordPress on Windows Server 2012 R2 / IIS 8.5 (not a Linux variant).

My best guess … if you look at the address bar in your browser, towards the beginning there is
index.php
, yes?You need to configure your server to remove the
index.php
Here’s a Google search that shows how to make the settings change to the server:
https://www.google.com/#q=index.php+windows+server+wordpressLet me know if that helps!

ParticipantHi Steve,
Thanks for the quick response. I checked the URL and there is no reference to index.php. The page that contains our Connections information is:
When I click on the department field within a user’s information, I’m directed to:
http://thevine/the-directory/department/Information+Technology/
This is an internal site so the domain name “thevine” is not resolving to external DNS (if that matters).

Darn, that’s always the issue with IIS… ok, being internal may or may not be the issue, I can’t say for sure…
Is the
the-directory
page a sub page? … meaning it is not set as the static front page correct? Some other page is?Is the directory home page set to the WordPress page that contains the
[connections]
shortcode? What is your permalink setting set to?
Can you visit the Permalink admin page and click Save Changes button? Does the issue persist?
Is the
the-directory
a page or a post? make sure it’s a page.If none of that works, there must be an issue with how IIS is setup with rewrite rules…

ParticipantHi Steven,
Let’s see if I can answer your questions:
1. Yes. The “The-Directory” page is a sub-page on our site. It is not the front page.
2. The directory page uses the following shortcode:
[connections page_limit='15' enable_pagination=TRUE pagination_position='both' card_width=650 card_height=195 show_addresses='true' str_work_addr='Office Location:' str_select='Select a Department' image_width=125 image_height=185 order_by='first_name' |SORT_ASC show_empty_categories=FALSE]3. I saved the Permalink settings and the problem persists.
4. Permalink structure is custom: http://thevine/%postname%
I did make a very interesting discovery. If the department name contains only one word (for example – Development), Connections will load a new page with all the correct information. However, if the department name is more than one word, (for example – Product Sales) clicking on the link does not work!
I bet you can fix this!!!

Hmmm, Interesting discovery indeed.
Try the solution that the accepted answer has a link to.

ParticipantSteven,
BINGO! Configuring IIS to allow “double escaping” fixed the issue. In IIS 8.5, there’s actually a GUI setting for this within IIS Manager. I’m attaching a screenshot for your records (in case anyone else has the issue).
Thanks for helping me with this!

Great to hear! I’m going to add this to the FAQ/s, it’s bound to come up again sooner or later…
If you have a moment, I would truly appreciate a review as they really do make a difference. Many thanks in advance!

GuestI set up a member directory for a client.
I clicked the option: Enabling this option will turn the name of organization into a link. Clicking the link will take you to the page filtered by that organization.
I have some individuals and organization entries with common organization names.
The organization names do not go to a list filtered by that organization
