ParticipantI was looking at this persons directory and this is what I am looking for exactly. http://www.floralparkvillage.org/business-directory/#cn-top
When I switch on the option in the back-end to highlight the “Title” on the entry listing and then click to the page, my layout is all out!
http://funchkins.travel/capetown/directory/accommodation/hotels/name/daddy-long-legs/
Any ideas what could be wrong and how I can fix or is there another option to have a permalink for a listing??
Thanks
Ray

Not certain exactly what you’re asking, but I’ll take a stab it.
The Floral Park Village site is using a much older version of cMap and you’re running the latest version so there are some differences. The white background that is being shown on cMap is not correct and is being caused by a style in the theme. This will no longer be an issue for the latest version of cMap because it no longer uses a table for layout.
The other big difference is when you click thru to a single entry. This is what I think you might be asking about, please let me know if it is not…
One of the new features in Connections 0.7.6.x was a completely new templating system. One of the major enhancements allows, for the lack of a better term, multiple views. So, when in “list view” cMap is displayed in the card format and in “single view” the design, or lack of, is to permit the theme to style the elements as much as possible for a visually seamless experience for the user.
This decision was made because of very high demand that when in “single view” that the info and map be expanded by default so the user would not have to continue clicking to see the info. Because a list of items is not being shown and everything is open by default, visually, it made more sense to allow the theme to handle the styling. This offers a pretty good integrated experience for the users.
I hope this answers your question accurately and thoroughly.

ParticipantI think I understand what you mean, the problem for me though, is that when I open in single view all the styling is incorrect in version 3, http://screencast.com/t/xY0Ws1UAq Is there a solution to have it displayed correctly ?
Ideally would prefer to have the un-expanded entry as before in version 2, is this still possible like in the screen shot of version 2???? http://screencast.com/t/cRMwWfaIP
I also noticed that when I search for an entry in the search bar and its very specific where I get one result, this is similar to how the layout was in version 2, the URL will look something like this http://funchkins.travel/capetown/directory/?cn-s=daddy
Is there anyway of using or changing the URL to perhaps getting the un-expanded single entry????

Sorry, but the only way to get the un-expanded view would to be to revert back to the older version or edit the PHP files of the new version.

ParticipantOK no worries Steven, I’ll just turn off the link option for now and figure another way, perhaps in the next update, the expanded layout might be fixed to display correctly and I can look into it again but for now its not such a big issue.
Cheers

Understood. So we’re on the same page, the expanded view isn’t broke. It is displaying correctly. I will be making a couple really minor changes, actually already completed, I just need to push out the update. The biggest visual change is that the top image is right aligned and the name and other details are pushed up to fill the gap. It looks a whole lot better.

ParticipantIf you manage to move the details to fill the gap that would be great, that was my biggest concern really, will make it look more like the expanded version in the list view.
– Is there a reason why you have the image on the right rather than on the left? I just thought, with it on the left, it would look exactly like the expanded view in the list view!?
– Do you have any idea when you may push the update out? Thanks

If you want to make the adjustment now, add the following to the end of the theme’s style.css file:
#cn-list .cn-entry-single .cn-right { float: right; }
It looked very poor with the contact details wrapping around the image with the text left aligned. But, more importantly, in responsive theme’s at small screen sizes this was a necessity for usability.

GuestI just added the CSS code and it done the trick, looks good now! I’ll leave it on the right as you suggested especially if there’s a problem with smaller screens!
Cheers
