Hello Steve,

for my Site I use the Extension LINK.

Some of my users did not fill out the Form completely. So I often get directory entries without basic informations. At least it is important to have the name of the organization.

A solution for this problem could be to make the field Organization(Name) as a required field.

How can I make the Organization(Name) field as a required field?
Can I extend the output with the class=”required”?

To give you the correct direction, which version of Form are you using? Form 1.x and Form 2.x are very, very different.

at the moment I use Version 1.0.2.

But I still update Connections to 8.1.5 and the Connections Widgets to version 1.2. So I think it would be wise to update the version of Form, too ?

Can I update from version 1.x to 2.x without any problems?

Please give me the direction for Form 2.x.

Shouldn’t. The shortcode options are no longer officially supported. There is backward support for most options but not all, like changing the bio and note field title and disabling the RTE for those fields. So if you’re using any of the shortcode options, I suggest removing them. They can now, and more, can be set on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Form tab.

1. Go to the Plugins admin page
2. Click Deactivate.
3. Click Delete.
4. Follow the Form installation instructions. Skip the instructions about the support license key. You purchase occurred before they were implemented.

No, If you’re only accepting “Organization” entry types, they org name will be required by default. But if you allow the “Individual” entry type, then that field is optional. You will have to edit Form to make it required. To do that:

1. Open the connections_form.php file.
2. Go to line 1448.
3. Change FALSE to TRUE.
4. Save.

That should do the trick.

the update continued smooth.
The new features are simple and great. Also the field for the Organization Name is like you said a required field.

But my problem is still not solved. My user can only register their entries with the extension Link. I do not offer a form in the front end.

Often the user do not fill out the LINK-Form completely. So I often get directory entries without organization names. So the entries have no arrangement and no link for the single presentation.

Can I extend this field to a required field?
Is there a possibility to add a small code snippet to get a sign or message for required.

Oh, on the link admin page. I just looked into that. I’ll have to issue an update to make this possible.

If you can give me a temp admin account, I’ll loh in and make the tweaks really quick. It’ll only take me a minute or two.
