ParticipantI have purchased Link with high hopes for it to solve my problem of allowing 400 homeowners to self-maintain their entries. After installing Link, I discover that Link matches user to entry by comparing email addresses. This is not good. Many of the homeowners have requested that their email addresses NOT by published. And a few of them didn’t supply and email address. Would it be possible to determine a match between user and entry by using the userID? That would solve my problem since all homeowners are given a user ID. I hope this can be done, otherwise I cannot use Link, and would then reconsider using Connections… That would be unfortunate since so far, I have been very impressed with the whole system.

ParticipantOne other thing, many of the entries have duplicate emails (i.e., spouses using the same emails). Wouldn’t that knock things off the rails?

This is easily solvable by setting the email addresses to private. Edit the entries of those of who wish to not have their address public and set the visibility of the email address to “Unlisted”.
re: And a few of them didn’t supply and email address.
An email address would have been required in order to create a user account. What ever email address you used to create those account for those who did not give an email address, use that same email address when adding their entry.
re: Would it be possible to determine a match between user and entry by using the userID?
Sorry, no, not possible.
re: One other thing, many of the entries have duplicate emails (i.e., spouses using the same emails). Wouldn’t that knock things off the rails?
The link would be made to the first match found which generally would be the first one added. Here’s the FAQ:

I do not believe this will be an issue because duplicate email addresses can not be used when creating WordPress user accounts. All email addresses must be unique.
re: otherwise I cannot use Link, and would then reconsider using Connections…
I highly suspect you will have the same issues with email addresses and users.

ParticipantThank you Steven – this has been very helpful. Perhaps I can make it all work…
