ParticipantI’ve installed the current version of Connections and Link to a client website and am setting up Link to allow the directory members to edit their own listings. I cannot seem to get WordPress and Connections to link together. I’ve went through the FAQ’s and setup the necessary Roles for the subscribers to allow them to edit their entry (only edit is allowable!) yet, when I login as my subscriber, I receive the following error:
ERROR: You are not authorized to add entries. Please contact the admin if you received this message in error.
I have tried the same process with two entries – cut/paste the email address from the entry to the wordpress user; removed the email from Connections and readded it, yet Link doesn’t seem to find my entry (conclusion from the email asking to Add the entry – and not showing the entry editor).
I am seeing some puzzling effects of the problem: the admin wordpress email is my full email address; the subscriber and the connections entry is connected to a nickname version of my email. Yet- the admin – when I click edit my entry from the black wordpress bar – shows my connections entry, even though from the display, the emails don’t match.
I’m truly not sure where to go from here and how to make this work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Donna

ParticipantI’m beginning to think its a plugin/theme conflict, but can’t deactivate/replace the theme without major rework. How can I go about confirming this? And is there anything you know I can do to minimize the problems I’m having?

You, know I think things are working fine….
The user dgalassi is linked to entry Blue Zenith.
Either this was linked on a previous login where the email addresses matched or you added the entry using the the “My Directory Entry” admin page. Either way, once an user and a entry are linked, they are linked no matter if email address match or not. This is by design because user’s email addresses can and do change. A link is meant to be permanent after created, regardless of the email address.
The user cingadmin is not linked to any entry, no matching email address. Well, there is, but it already belongs to en entry linked to another user, dgalassi. Now, because the user cingadmin has already logged in and no available entry can be linked, it will not be checked for a link again, even if you do later change the user’s email to an entry that is available to be linked, since the user was already checked they will not be linked. I’m definitely reconsidering changing this logic after reviewing this for you. This was done to prevent hijacking a link simply by changing an email address.
As a test, I created a user, shazahm1, and then I create an entry with a matching email address, When I logged in as shazahm1 they were linked as expected.
I even checked all your other users and they are linked as expected. Except for JMoores, which doesn’t seem to have an entry in Connections to link to.
Does this help?

ParticipantThank you so much for all of this! I was thinking I was going to need to deal with the membership piece manually to get the updates/entries into the site. It was a daunting task to even think about, as membership is approaching 60 members looking to get a listing on this site right now!
Thank you again for your time on this! Your plugin, extensions, and SERVICE is outstanding!
