    I’m experimenting with WordPress on behalf of an individual who has content which will be managed by WordPress as posts/pages and possibly custom posts/pages (using ACF).

    In a perfect world, we would like to have a Connections list where PEOPLE could be linked to specific posts/pages/content with one of several possible “levels of interest/knowledge”.

    So let’s say we have Mary Smith, John Jones, Donald Trump in our Connections data base.

    We have a post/page that we want to tag with Mary Smith as being “Expert”, John Jones as “Novice” and no linkage to Donald Trump.

    Could it be done?

    Some resources are probably available to acquire Pro versions of Connections, ACF and your services, as I’d prefer to get a solution that doesn’t require my personal coding involvement! (I’ve been retired since 2004!!!)

    If I understand correctly, sorry, no, this can not be done.

    The closest is if a WP User which is also a publisher of content on the site has been linked to a Connections Entry. On the respective Connections Entry Profile page, the Authored addon would list the latest posts of that WP User.
