ParticipantI just installed the Forms add-on and have issues with both of these fields.
Neither displays the Visual Toolbar, I can select Text in Notes and enter info but Can’t do the same in Bio.
Buttons are also unresponsive.
I’ve tried in Chrome. IE11 and Firefox and on 3 different devices.
Have tried with both a shortcode and using the link.
Directory is at https://thmcec.org.au/club-business-directory/
and page with shortcode at: https://thmcec.org.au/submit-directory-listing/I’m running SSL and thought that might be an issue but can see a similar issue in the forums where the user didn’t follow though. That site is at http://forensichealing.com/directory/add-entry/ and doesn’t use SSL.
Am also using W3 Total Cache but issue is there when logged in and the cache should be bypassed.

ParticipantAs a quick follow-up. It appears that it’s the absence of the Visual editor loading that is causing the issue. If I don’t click on the Visual tab then I can enter in the Text tab in both fields.
So, if this is a plugin conflict or similar that can’t be resolved then disabling Visual might be a workaround.09/17/2014 at 10:12 am #304346Steven Zahm

WordPress 3.8 (I think that was the version) did major updates to the visual editor which required just about every plugin that uses it to need to be updated. With that said, the version of Form being used is nearing 3 years old.
I highly recommend you updating to the latest version which can be downloaded via your purchase history.
Installing this update should fix the issue with the visual editor.
I do see you used the shortcode option to change the header text for the bio and notes section. These two shortcodes no longer exist in the newer versions. My suggestion is to remove all shortcode options that you’re using and instead set those options on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Form tab.
To change the headers for the bio and notes fields, you need to follow the instructions in this QuickTip.
The text domain for any strings within the metabox will be
connections
. Strings that are specific to Form, the text domain will beconnections_form
.Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Steven,
The site you are referring to with the Headers changed is not mine. That was referenced as another site where I noticed the same issue.
Mine is at https://thmcec.org.au/club-business-directory/
I’m on 2.0.2 version of form. Had only just purchased it. Same version is the current download.
The visual editor isn;t showing in either the Notes or Bio fields. Text button works in Notes but the button is totally unresponsive in the Bio field.
If I can’t get this to work will have to resort to using Contact Form 7 which would make it more difficult since I’d need to do the old copy and paste.09/20/2014 at 8:22 am #304663Bill Rodgers
ParticipantWhat I think I need to do is to completely disable the Visual Editor. It shows in Chrome but not in IE11. Having the button there in Chrome and trying to use it cases an issue.

Ahh, ok, sorry, I obviously misread the details. The reason for the other site is likely the reason I stated. Your site …
It seems to be cause by a fatal JavaScript error. Load your site in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab.
The source of the error is coming from the WordPress Catalog plugin (guessing based solely on the error, could be another plugin).
Bu the source of its error my because you’re using W3TC (or some other minification plugin) and minifying the JavaScript.
Connections and its scripts are perfectly compatible with W3TC JS minification but when in combinations of n-number of plugins the minification can break things in unexpected ways.
My suggestion is to disable the JS minification to see if the issue resolves itself. It it does not, it is possible the JS minification was hiding another fatal JS error but I would not know what that is until the minification is turned off.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks.
The issue was with Spider catalogue. I don’t really have the need for that since I can add the Club Merchandise we have for Sale just in a page and nobody has listed anything else for sale.
Also have an issue with W3 Total Cache and the CMap and Market templates but since it is nearly 3 am here will post that in a new thread tomorrow.
Am sooo glad it wasn;t a conflict with the Calendar.
Thanks again – a plugin to add to the incompatible list.09/23/2014 at 9:25 am #304858Steven Zahm
Keymaster@ Bill Ok, I’ve logged the issue as a plugin conflict. I’ll see if I can replicate and hopefully provide some sort of fix on my side if possible. I used to use W3TC on this site which has all the templates installed I’m not aware of any conflicts. I’ll keep an eye out for your post.

ParticipantHi,
Still having issues with Visual Editor, I have WordPress: 4.0, Connections: 8.1.3 and cMap 4.1. I’m running CForms and changed the Global Settings, I’ve read many of the solutions you have said in other forums but not successful for me. I don’t know what else to do to fix this, any additional workaround?
Thanks,
Juan

The number one reason for the Form fields not to work is fatal javascript errors in other plugins and theme. Load the page in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab. All errors will be listed here. Look for any that say something about undefined. Go to the far right of the and the file causing the error will be listed. Mouseover that error and the file path will be shown. That file path usually is a good hint of what the source plugin or theme is. If it is a plugin, deactivating the plugin fixes it.
If you can share the link to the page having the issue, I’ll take a quick look.
