Hi Stephen

Ever since I did a WordPress update yesterday, I can’t upload or edit any of the directory entries, I am not sure what has changed but it won’t let me save anything without first and last name fields being filled in as compulsory and even when I filled in a last name as a full stop for the one person it still wouldn’t display the entry on the directory.

Can you tell me how to fix this?

This was a long standing bug that was finally fixed within Connections. An entry added as an Individual, the first and last name are the minimum required fields to be entered and if the entry type is Organization the org name is required. Before Connections would still work, but with changes in 8.1 and greater it is 100% necessary to have them.

• HAve you updated to Connections 8.1.3? There were some edge case bugs with Connection on multisite that affected a few users that were addresses in 8.1.1 and 8.1.2.
  Can you add an entry with and without adding an image?
• If you can, does it show on the Connections : manage admin page?
• When you say it doesn’t display in the directory, do you mean only on the site frontend?
• Are you setting the entry as Public?
• What is the exact shortcode you are using on the directory page?

I have now updated the plugin version as per your indication…thanks.

the remaining issues are follows:

1. When saving an entry it highlights the surname field in red indicating the it is compulsory. i am currently using a full stop in the surname field as a quick fix. Is there a proper solution for this and do you know why it wold all of a sudden do this after a wordpress update?
2. Since doing the wordpress update, i am unable to select more than 2 categories per entry. If I add an entry with the following categories it works: (note that parent categories are selected too in each case)

Province
– Western cape
genre
– jazz

but if i add an entry with the following categories the entry does not show up on the front end at all.

Province
– Western cape

genre
– jazz

Services
– Production

I hope this makes sense?

Not sure what you mean by this, but the last name is a required field, this was a bug that was fix in Connections 8.1 and greater. Connections will require this field before an entry can be added.

• What are the category ID numbers for the categories you named in your last reply?
