GuestHi Steven.
I have a business directory that includes a number of categories for various businesses types (ex. “Legal”, “Financial”, “Health & Wellness”, etc.). I am interested in segmenting my directory by category type, then into 2 separate geographic “zones” that do not correspond perfectly to zip codes or cities.
What I would like to do is have a page for “Financial” businesses from “Zone 1”, a separate page for “Financial” businesses from “Zone 2”, a different page for “Health & Wellness” businesses from “Zone 1”, a separate page for “Health & Wellness” businesses from “Zone 2”, and so on.
I was thinking I could create “Zone” categories along with the business type categories, but need to know if it is possible to use shortcodes to create a list that includes 1 business type category AND 1 zone category per page as described above – ex. Health & Wellness businesses (only) from Zone 1 (only)?
Hopefully this makes sense. If so, is this possible?
Thank you!!!

You have two options.
Create the Zone One and Zone Two top level categories and create duplicate categories under each Zone. The if you’re using a premium template that has a category drop down you could use the enable_category_by_root_parent shortcode option.
The other option would be create your two zone categories and all the other categories and then use the category_in. Doing it this way, you would have to create a page for each category in each zone.
Personally, I’d op for the former because it would involves a lot less work.
Hope that helps.
