ParticipantI am having difficulty importing an CSV file.
I just need the following headings: First Name, Last Name, Cottage Phone Number, Home Phone Number and Email address.
I have paid and downloaded the plugin for importing CSV files.
How do I customize the mapping headings so they will be written as above?
Can I just have the CSV in excel to be setup like this instead of having the big long sample excel file?i have read all of your instructions and just going around in circles.

Can I just have the CSV in excel to be setup like this instead of having the big long sample excel file?Sure, your CSV file can have just those fields. Actually the fewer fields the better because there is less data to parse.
In the mapping step you CSV file will only display those column headers… you would then map them to the correct fields in Connections as you normally would. Same process, just fewer to do since your CSV file would only contain a few columns.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantOk, but they won’t import although it will tell me it did.
How do I customize the mapping headers when it displays ‘Home Phone Number’ when I would like it say ‘Cottage Phone Number’.05/03/2017 at 12:00 pm #421754Melissa
ParticipantOk, I just tried again and for whatever reason it imported! Now I just need the other question solved. How do I customize the mapping headers as I mentioned above?

You can use the Say What? plugin to customize the labels and other text in Connections or any other plugin which is translation ready.
To change
Home Phone
toCottage Phone
you would add a new text change with the following settings:Original string:
Home Phone
Text domain:connections
Text context:
Replacement string:Cottage Phone
What spelling and capitalization… it matters, and, if not correct, the replacement will not work.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantTHANK YOU SO MUCH! I got it working! Sorry, but just one other question. Is there a way to hide ‘Category’ under the listings of the individuals?

ParticipantIs it possible to add more than one email address under the same heading?

re: Is there a way to hide ‘Category’ under the listings of the individuals?
I’m assuming you are using the Default Card template, correct? Here’s how:
- Navigate to the Connections : Templates admin page and click the Customizer button for the Default template. The page will reload with the Customizer on the left and a preview on the right.
- In the Customizer, uncheck the option to display the categories.
- In the preview, click any entry name. The preview will refresh to display the profile detail view of the entry.
- Ensure the option to display categories is unchecked. The reason you must do this twice is because both the list view and the single entry detail view can be configured separately.
- Click the Save and Publish button in the Customizer.
- Exit the Customizer.
re: Is it possible to add more than one email address under the same heading?
Sorry, not sure what you are asking? Are you asking if you can add another email address type in addition to home and work?

ParticipantSo when it shows an email address for an individual can you add two instead of one?
Example:
Jane & John Doe
Cottage Phone: 705-000-0000
Home Phone: 705-000-0001
Email Address: jane@gmail.com, john@gmail.com05/03/2017 at 3:37 pm #421786Melissa
ParticipantNevermind, I got this to work.
