ParticipantHi Steven,
I purchased your pro pack, and was using csv import feature.
While trying First time it uploaded the entries, however they were not in the order I wanted. So I deleted the list.
To modify the display I rearranged the data, however now even after ‘import complete’ New entries are not getting added.
I will share csv file on email only, don’t want it uploaded here for privacy reason.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Steven,
I guess the problem is in my csv file, as the import plugin is working fine with demo csv file you have provided for example.
Please let me know an email id where I can mail the file to you, I hope you understand I can’t upload it here as it contains some personal information.
Many thanks,
Regards,
Kartik

First, you can not control the order by importing it in order. In the admin, it is alpha order and on the frontend it defaults to alpha order though this can be controlled with the order_by shortcode option.
You can attach your CSV file here, just mark the reply as Private before clicking the submit button.
After you do, please follow-up a regular non-private reply as I do not always receive email notices about private replies. Thanks!
Oh, it does sound like a corrupt CSV file. Try using LibreOffice to create a clean one … that’s pretty much all I do.

ParticipantHi Steven,
I have shared the link, login and password with you in a private message for the directory.
In excerpt plus, I can’t get Notes, work address, other address fields to get displayed after clicking ‘read more’
- Can you please advise me on how to do that?
- Also i will need to assign custom labels to those field.
- Search related issue, as mentioned in private message.
These are the 3 issues, I am facing now. Please help me resolve them. (CSV import issue has been resolved now, Thanks for the guidance)
Thanks

The login fails so I can not really see the page … I may not need to though…
re: As soon as I select a ‘category’ search is performed with the keyword ‘search’ by default.
This is likely being caused by the theme including a “buggy” (in my opinion) HTML5 shim script. The purpose of these shim scripts is to enable HTML5 features in browsers that do not support them. They work pretty well … but, there seems to be a bug in this shim script.
When you click on a category, the “Search” placeholder string in the search box is being sent too. So you’re actually searching for “Search” within the category being clicked. Obviously not what we want to do.
The fix will be to remove the “Search” placeholder text. To do this easily, we can use another plugin.
Changing the search string can be done with the Say What? plugin.
It’ll add a new Text Changes menu item under the Tools admin page.
Click Add New, enter the string exactly as shown in Connections,
Search
.Next enter
connections
(notice the lack of capitalization, that’s important!) as the domain and then enter your new text. The new text you want to add will be nothing, leave it blank.
That should fix it.

I just replied to another user asking a very similar question, rather than repeat it, here’s a link to my reply:http://connections-pro.com/support/topic/information-shown-before-and-after-read-more/#post-321498
re: Also i will need to assign custom labels to those field.
See this FAQ. All the calid shortcode options can be found on the [Excerpt Plus doc page(http://connections-pro.com/documentation/template-doc/excerpt-plus-shortcode-options/).
Related… check out this QuickTip.
Hope I answered all your questions thoroughly!

ParticipantHi Steven,
Thanks for the step by step response. I was able to resolve all the three issues.
1. Search box, by default keyword
2. Custom labels
3. All entries when clicked on read more for ‘Excerpt plus’The database looks good finally, However due to my technical naivety I am running into issues one after another. Would be great, if you can help my with.
- How to get labels displayed for ‘line 2’ ‘line 3’ ‘zip code’, ‘state’and other fields present in first row of CSV import? I will also need to rename them
- Entries are created by CSV import, but for some entries all data is not getting uploaded. Is there any error log to find out what went wrong? I have removed Commas, Single quote and Double quotes from the entire sheet.
Thanks again for your pain resolving replies.

ParticipantHi,
Additional info. for the 2nd point above.
For an entry which didn’t has all of its data uploaded by CSV import.
If
I go to ‘manage’ and click on ‘edit’ then click on ‘update’ without making any change to the entry data. Then
All data that was intended to be displayed by CSV import is being displayed. Can it be the case that CSV import is missing out on ‘updating’ some entries after creating them, OR some cache related issue?
Please let me know, if you face any difficulty in understanding the issue.
Thanks,
Have a great week ahead :)

re: For an entry which didn’t has all of its data uploaded by CSV import.
If I go to ‘manage’ and click on ‘edit’ then click on ‘update’ without making any change to the entry data.
If there is a page caching plugin being used or server-side page caching being used, that could be the cause, flushing the page change after making edit would be necessary.re: How to get labels displayed for ‘line 2’ ‘line 3’ ‘zip code’, ‘state’and other fields present in first row of CSV import?
Sorry, I am not sure I follow? Do you mean when they are displayed on the site’s frontend in the template? If that is the case, the only way to do that would be edit the template to show such labels which would be a somewhat involved solution requiring you to know PHP intermediately well.re: I will also need to rename them
This can be done pretty easily, see this QuickTip. This basically would only affect the admin add/edit entry form though.Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks Steven,
Most of these tips helped.
Have some other queries, will start it in new thread, as the topic name would be irrelevant to those questions.
