ParticipantSteve,
I’ve seen a few threads about this, but wanted your thoughts/suggestions on how to do this in terms of structuring the CSV file.
We have a membership organization with roughly 100 members, and year-to-year we get brand-new members, returning members, and of course dropped (non-renewing) members. The great thing about Connections is we can have entries for all of those folks, and anyone who isn’t a member that year (non-renewing) can be set to Unlisted.
However, I’d like an easy way to do this using a separate Excel/CSV file that’s keep current with that information.
Any ideas so we don’t have to manually go through the list every year (usually a few times since we have members joining between January-July/August) and compare who’s not in the directory already to import those, then go through and compare who’s not a member anymore that has a “public” listing and change to “unlisted,” or vice versa when someone re-joins?
Thanks!

The latest version of CSV Import does support a pseudo update. If you add an Entry ID column to your CSV file and populate it with the Entry ID in Connections the data will be updated rather than duplicated.
I say pseudo update because data such as addresses, phone, email and such are deleted and re-imported. Info like the name, bio, notes and visibility are updated. Additionally the category associations and images retain their links to the entry.
So, from what you said, it does sound like the current updating support will meet your needs.
I do not mention it as a feature because it has only limited testing but those that are using it seem fine with it and not have reported any bugs.
I hope that helps!
