ParticipantHello,
Forgive me if this is already covered and I’ve not found it yet.
Is there a way to deactivate a listing without deleting it?
I have a membership site and only active members should have their listings displayed.
I don’t want this to be enforced. I prefer to have the ability to select it for each user.
Thank you,
Chris

Would simply setting the entry to be “Unlisted” work?

GuestThank you for your time and the response Steven,
I’m glad it’s so straightforward. I thought it would be more complicated and I was focused on the wrong word, “deactivate.” :)
I hope your 2014 is great. You’ve got a great set of tools with Connections. I bought it after looking at many details for *MANY* directory plugins. I was intent on a member directory and a separate business directory. When I found Connections you opened my mind to the concept of a combined directory–much better.

GuestHi – I also have a membership site and have unlisted and unapproved members so that they do not show. However, the membership counts still include these. Is there a setting somewhere so that the membership counts do not display with the categories or to set it so that only approved and/or listed members will be included in the counts?
Thanks and Happy New Year.

Sorry, no. There is not a way to have the category counts take unlisted and entries in the mod queue removed from the total count at this time. The only thing I can do for you, assuming this is related to the Widget Pack, is make a quick edit so the count is not shown. If you’re fine with that, I would need to be provided with a temp admin account so I can make that edit.

ParticipantI would love to figure out a way to remove unlisted and private entries from the category widget as well… I can turn the count off, which was pretty simple but the problem is visitors navigating to categories that show but have no visible listings. If I leave the count there then they think there should be a listing but can’t find one…

I’ve added to my issue tracker … so far the only solutions I can think of would be very expensive, meaning it would cause many database queries as the count would have to be calculated for each category based on what the current user has permissions to view.

ParticipantHave you been able to think about this one any more? how about just for public view? it’s really bugging my client.

ParticipantAnd when I say just for public view, can you dream up any code that I could add the the widget file that would only query public listed connections on the front end regardless of access level? That would totally solve my issue.

KeymasterNo, sorry, I have not spent any time on this as of yet…
I’m not sure I understand, public entries will be shown on the front end regardless of user role, unless, you require login to view the directory. If that is the case, you need to go to the Connections : Roles admin page and give view public capabilities to every role on your site.
