ParticipantSomething has gone wrong on my other domain. I tried to change the pagination like I had successfully done earlier on my other domain for forum topic 256755 by changing the functions.php file via FTP. But unlike on my other domain where this did the trick: http://blackbritishacademics.co.uk/directory/ this time all of the entries have disappeared from the webpage: http://blackbloggersnetwork.co.uk/directory/directory/ I cannot understand why this should happen but I have tried everything to get the entries back but to no avail. I even tried restoring the MSql database as it was backed up 5 days ago but the entries still will not appear on the webpage. They are there as I can see them all in the ‘manage entry’ section of the admin page.
Please help – I am not sure how to get my entries back! I have attached a copy of the functions file.

There’s no need to be restoring the database, especially if the entries are showing in the admin.
I think I see the issue…
On your other site, you have Tile Plus 1.0 installed. On this site you have Tile Plus 2.1.1. If you copied the functions.php file from the other site to this site, it will break because the files are not interchangeable. You need to restore the functions.php file for this site. Did you make a backup before overwriting?
Just for background…
The other site where you’re running Tile Plus 1.0, editing the functions.php file was the only way to change the pagination. Back then when that version was released none of the templates supported shortcode options. That didn’t come about until Tile Plus 2.0. So the shortcode option would have worked on this site.
Since you running the latest version of Connections, I strongly recommend upgrading both sites to Tile Plus 3.0. This is a free update and can be downloaded from your purchase history. If you do, please take note of the special installation/upgrade instructions as template installation has completely changed. they are now installed as plugins.
Of course you’ll lose any tweaks that you’ve made … I seem to vaguely recall you made your own changes to the template.

GuestHi Steven,
I understand now why the functions.php file got messed up when I copied it over from the new domain with the more recent version of Tile Plus. But I have tried copying over the old functions file and the entries will still not appear.
What will happen if I upgrade to the new Tile Plus 3 on this domain? Will the entries re-appear?
Also I cannot remember all of the tweaks to be able to replicate them.
What should I do?

Honestly, I recommend updating and not tweaking beyond what can be done with the 50+ shortcode options. Why, because for as long as Connections and Tile Plus receive updates, you’ll be able to upgrade.

GuestOkay – does this mean I will get my entries back on the other domain where the functions.php file was altered?
Do I have to install the new tile plus as a plugin?
Thanks

Yes, they never went anywhere. As you mentioned, you can still see them in the admin. Think of template for Connections like themes for WordPress, they only display the content. They do not ad or delete it. So that mean you can change template like you can change themes. I hope that clears up how templates function.
Yes, Tile Plus 3.0 get installed and activated like a plugin. After you do, then it will show up on the templates page so it can be activated.

ParticipantI am still having problems because although I installed Tile Plus 3 via the plugin method and can see it on my server via FTP, it is not showing in the admin section of WordPress. This is still showing as Tile Plus 2.1.1 and Tile Plus 3 is not there for me to activate. Therefore, although I can see all my connections entries in the ‘manage entry’ section they are still not showing on my web page.
What do I do next?
Thanks?

I think you missed the last step in the installation/upgrade instructions:
Delete the previous version.
After you do that, it show up one the templates page.

ParticipantSomething very weird is happening. I switched the current template so that I could delete Tile Plus 2 and then I couldn’t see Tile Plus three on the template page. So I went back to the plugin page and reinstalled Tile Plus 3 and then the plugin list and template page showed Tile Plus 3. I then went to the manage entries page to check if all of my connection entries were still there and they were. But when I checked the web page the entries have still not appeared. But more strangely, when I went back to the template page it is now showing Tile Plus 2.1.1 as the current template and not Tile Plus 3 – even though I deleted 2.1.1.
There is a malfunction somewhere. What should I do now?
Thanks

ParticipantSorry – I was in the wrong domain! Tile Plus is now activated and I am tweaking it!
