GuestHi there – I am trying to get my shortcode [connections_login] to work but it won’t. Maybe it doesn’t work on the free version? Thanks, LindaK

Can you better describe how it does not work? Do see just the shortcode? Do you see the login form, but it does not work? So on… the more detail the better I can help.

GuestSo 2 problems. My page at: http://www.treyburn-test.org/directory/ is the one set for the “Home” connections page. It has the following code:
[connections]
[connections exclude_category="3,5"]
And if you visit this page you will see that 1) it does not prompt you to log in and 2) it displays Categories 3 and 5 and all of them.
In my settings I have specified this page (directory) as the “Home Choose the page where your directory is located …” I have checked Login Required, and have the following code:
Please login to view the Contractor Referrals directory. If you have forgotten your password, click here or contact our Webmaster Linda Kaufman.
[connections_login]
Thank you!

re: My page at: http://www.treyburn-test.org/directory/ is the one set for the “Home” connections page. It has the following code:
You should only put the shortcode on the page once. Shortcode options go in one shortcode, not a second instance of the shortcode. With two shortcodes on the page you are displaying the directory twice, once with all entries and once where entries assigned to categories 3 and 5 are excluded.
re: And if you visit this page you will see that 1) it does not prompt you to log in and 2) it displays Categories 3 and 5 and all of them.
Three things…
- If you are logged into WordPress, you will see the directory. Please log out.
- I see that you are using W3TC, if you are logged out of WordPress and see the directory perhaps W3TC is serving the old cached version of the page prior to you enabling the require login.
- Triple check to ensure you have in fact have the require login option enabled.
Hope this helps, let me know.

GuestHi Steven – thank you for your prompt reply and for your suggestions! So I rechecked all my work and settings and did get further. At least now it will NOT display the directory if you are not logged in. However it does not interpret the shortcode [connections_login] and only displays it as opposed to bringing up the login page. I have attached a screen shot for you to see. I read your instructions on your website and made sure I typed [connections_login] in TEXT mode. I’m not sure what is wrong. However just a thought, I noticed that I have a page called “Login” – could this be in conflict with the Connections Login page?
Another question for you – do I go through this settings page for all 3 of my “directories?” I have a “Neighborhood Directory,” “Neighborhood Helpers” and “Contractor Referrals.”
![Visit this page to see the connections login error][1]
Thanks again for all your help – I really hope we can get this working; I love this Plugin!

Ok, if you are seeing the shortcode rather than the login form… are you certain you’ve installed the free Login extension?

The Login plugin is mine… perfectly safe to use. I would not recommend it if it were not ;)

GuestOK thanks Steve! I installed it and now get the login screen : ) However when I try to view my Address Book, it shows “No results.” I created a user with a subscriber role. Is there a setting I missed?
Thank you for all your help; I really appreciate it!! I’m almost there!

GuestHi Steve – I changed a couple of settings in the Role area for subscriber and it looks like I’m all set : )
Thanks again!
