ParticipantHello,
I’ve been trying to make a google map plug-in work with connections following your documentation but I’m facing a problem : when getting a new API key on the Google API page, I don’t get the pop-up you’re mentionning to chose between server key and browser key when I clik on “API Key” in the credentials section.
I only get a “simple” key, or several simple keys, and I have tried to put them several ways in the Connections API Geocoding section without getting any positive result. I can get a google map but a “blank” one, with absolutely no information from my directory.
Any idea how I can resolve this problem ?
Thanks for your support.

ParticipantSame here. I click on both links and only get one option for an API key. When I enter the key I was given, the map still doesn’t work.

ParticipantCould I get an answer to my question, at least to know someone’s working on it ? It’s been nearly a week now…

ParticipantNow I’m getting REALLY frustated seeing all the other threads getting some answers and still keeping waiting for a sign mine has been read and is being dealt with by someone in charge.
Am I supposed to just deal with my google map problem alone ? Does anyone care I’m a customer facing a problem ?
So frustrating…

My sincerest apologies! I did not receive a notice about your open ticket so I did not know about it. That is not an excuse, but it is the reason. If this even happens again to you please use the Contact link at the very bottom of the page. Mention that you have not received a reply to an open support ticket. I will answer asap. I nearly always reply open support forum tickets to within 24 hours unless it’s over weekend or holiday (US). So if it goes longer than that, please use that contact link and let me know.
On to the issue…
The documentation for the Google Maps API has been updated to reflect Google’s latest changes to their user interface for creating API keys.
I suggest giving them another read, following the instructions. If you still can not get it to work, let me know. you’ll need to share your directory page with me so I can see provide further guidance.
Hope this helps, let me know. Again, I apologize for my lack of reply in a timely manner!
ps. Tip, open the directory page in Chrome and hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab. Google displays the Maps API errors in the Console with links to their documentation on how to correct the error that is occurring.
pss. The most common error is setting up the referer restriction incorrectly, to test, remove the referer restriction from the Browser API key.

ParticipantHello Steven,
and thanks for your answer and apologies, I totally understand.
I have modified the API keys following your updated documentation but am still facing the same problem (I’ve done that F12 thing too but I’m afraid I’m not coding competent enough for that…).
My directory page is the following : http://www.reseau-psyexpat.com/annuaire
Thanks for your support !

I just visited the your directory and the maps seem to working just fine. One thing that that may cause you issue though, you have the other mapping plugin displaying a map at the top of the page. This is causing the Google Maps API to be loaded on the the page twice. Each instance you are using a separate API key. You should really remove the map from the director page so the Google Maps API is loaded only once. At the very least, you should set both Connections and the Google Map plugin to use the same API key.
Hope this helps!
