Look for the search method in the class.retrieve.php file.

You need to edit the class.template-parts.php file.
Look for this line:
$out .= '<input type="text" id="cn-search-input" name="cn-s" value="' . esc_attr( $searchValue ) . '" placeholder="' . __('Search', 'connections') . '"/>';-

ParticipantWill these search improvements be implemented in upcoming versions of Connections?

Are speaking about FULLTEXT queries? That has been in Connections for quite some time now. But, to take advantage of it more fully you have to turn off the keyword search on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Search tab. The disclaimer is that this will only have an effect if the database tables are setup with the MyISAM storage engine, which is the MySQL default. Some host default to the InnoDB which until very recently did not support FULLTEXT queries. So, if you disable keyword search and you do not get any results when performing queries, you have to use keyword search.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantI did that, but my results are odd. If I use LIKE QUERY it seems to perform an or search (I get all Oceanic-entries and all Moscow-entries; see below). And if I switch to FULLTEXT, I get results only for one term search words. If I search for example for “oceanic moscow” there are no results, even if I have a company “Oceanic” in the city of Moscow. In the options I checked the boxes for searching in Organization and Adress City. If I search for “Oceanic” or “Moscow” only there are results. But how to do searches with 2 or more words combined for more specific results?

That sounds about right. The LIKE query is OR. Making it AND makes the query results to small by being too specific.
FULLTEXT is multiterm, just not across fields. Entering “Oceanic” and “Moscow” would yield results for only entries that contain both terms in the same field. Since one term is in the organization field and the other is in the city field would equal no results.
