ParticipantHi Steven,
I see your post here http://connections-pro.com/support/topic/export-custom-fields-to-csv/ but I assume this is you doing custom work for the client.
If not, can the Connections plugin export custom fields without any special tweaks? When I export to csv, the custom fields show up in the csv column heads but the values don’t appear.
Thanks!

Connections can export custom fields without changing the code in Connections itself, but, that said, one still must hook into the export process to export the custom field data. The reason being the custom fields can contain any arbitrary data so they is no way to know how to process the data to export it.
Now, if what you want to export is just a text field, the code to export it is really simple. Assuming this is basically a continuation of this thread, I can spend some time this week to put together two tutorials to compliment it, one for CSV Import and one for CSV Export.
Let me know.

ParticipantSteven,
Yes, these are just simple text fields. That would be great if you could do a tutorial for this. I’d really appreciate that.
Thanks much!

ParticipantHi Steven,
I was wondering if you got a chance to write those tutorials. I know you must be busy so I wasn’t sure.
Thanks.

I’ve started them but have not had enough time to finish them up. It is not that they are long or hard or anything just been very, very busy. I apologize for the delay!

I finally gad the opportunity to finish this up. I ended up updating the original tutorial on how to register a text field with the code examples need to import and export a custom field.

Hope this helps and apologies for how long it took!

ParticipantGreat, thank you. I appreciate you doing this, and no problem on the delay. I’ll give it a spin and let you know if I have questions.
Thanks again, Steven!
