ParticipantI’ve tried searching but couldn’t find a clear answer.
I’ll try to keep this as simple as possible… I have several pages on my website, each page titled for a different city (ie: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.). In the connections app, I have added many listings for doctors. I want for a visitor to go to a page, for example the Chicago page, and see a directory of all the doctors that are in Chicago. However when I add the [connections] short code, the Chicago page will show ALL doctors entries that I have – including doctors from all the other cities.
I need a simple explanation of how to separate these listings so only doctors from their respective cities are seen. I’m assuming this has something to do with categories, but I haven’t been able to make it work.
I am using the cMAP template. Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest using the city filter shortcode option. Here’s the link to the doc page that has a couple examples. Here’s an example that will filter the result to show only entry in Chicago:
[connections city='Chicago']Hope that helps!

ParticipantSteven, thanks for the quick response! So to designate a doctor as being from Chicago, do I need to make a “Chicago” category and then select this category on that particular doctor’s entry when I am making it? Just want to make sure I understand this correctly. Thanks again!

You could do it that way too, but then you would want to use the category shortcode option instead of the city filter. To use the city filter option just make sure there is an address entered for the doctor. For example, the doctor in Chicago. If his address has Chicago in the city field, they will be listed.
Now, it just occured to me when you say Chicago, New York and such, do you mean “and surrounding area” and not actually said city. If that is the case, then categories would be your best option.
Since you’re have separate pages for each city; you might want to consider disabling the disable the category drop down.

ParticipantSteven, I’ve noticed for some reason the layout of my cMAP has been altered and doesn’t look like it did before…there is a lot of space and gaps within the box. For example, go to my page here (http://ncvasectomy.com/find-a-surgeon) and click on the “Cary” accordion tab – you’ll see the listing appears strange. I deleted the connections plugin and tried re-downloading it along with the cMAP file and it didn’t fix this. It used to look just like the cMAP demo does on your page. Let me know your thoughts on fixing this. Thanks!

KeymasterTake a look at this FAQ; especially the section related to the
codeandpretags. After you remove those, it should be fine. -
