GuestIs there way to have a default category display when the directory is loaded? I have a category called “Featured” and I would like that to display until the user selects a different category from the drop down menu.
Thanks!05/08/2014 at 12:22 pm #290673Steven Zahm

I think this might work:
[connections category=X]X would equal the category ID of your featured category.
If I recall correctly, the downside is that the Select All Categories option will now default to category X rather than all categories. I can’t think of any other issues this might cause off the top of my head.
I hope this helps. Let me know if that works for you.

GuestOkay, I did that but now if the user clicks on any other category, it shows “No results.” Is there any way around that?

I tested, it seems to work fine for me. I see you do have an older version of both Connections and cMap installed. Can you update both and try again?

GuestI updated Connections to version 0.8.5, and my plug-in dashboard says cMap is up to date (version 3.1).
I’m using the shortcode below to display a certain category when the page loads, but when the user selects a different category from the dropdown, it still shows “no results.”
[connections category_name='Featured' addr_format='%line1% %line2% %line3% %city%, %state% %zipcode%' image_fallback='none' enable_bio_head='false']

Right there’s the problem…
category_name='Featured'You need to use
category=xX would equal the category ID of your featured category.
The current version of cMap is 4.0, released last week. You can download the latest version from you purchase history.
One of the major new features is in cMap is in admin updates which is enabled by Connections 0.8.x. After you install the update enter your license key on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Licenses tab. After you do that, anytime I release an update you can click to update link right within the admin like you can with plugins from wordpress.org. In order to be notified of updates, you must enter your license key.

Great, glad to help!
I see you modded the CSS… here’s couple links that may be interest. Basically how you can do this so it is update safe. as it is now, you’ll lose the changes during an update.

When you launch your site, let me know, I’ll list it here as a live sample.
Lastly, if you have a moment, I would truly appreciate a review as they really do make a difference. Many thanks in advance!
