KeymasterThe templating engine has been completely revamped starting with version 0.7.6.1 so it sounds like you might have been doing something that is not compatible with the new templateing engine. I put in a lot of effort to make sure it was as backward compatible as possible so I not exactly sure which direction to point you.
Does the template show up on the Connections : Templates admin page?

GuestHi thanks for the reply.
In the admin area i have the following templates:
Default Entry Card 1.0
Bio Entry Card 1.0
Table Entry Card 1.0
Names 1.0
Profile Entry Card 1.0In wp-content/plugins/connections/templates I have 16 folders like (anniversary-dark, anniversary-light, birthday-dark, birthday-light, card, card-bio, card-single, etc.)
In wp-content/connections_templates I have my template “pinetree.php”, must have been uploaded from previous versions, because from the admin area when i upload a custom template a get a message “SUCCESS: A new template has been installed.”, but i do not see it uploaded. (i tried removing the current pinetree php file, and it was not replaced upon upload)
As a note, i mentioned i recently updated to your current version, but do not recall what version i was running prior, so i may have been a few behind.
Thanks for your help on fixing this!

The name of your template tells me that your template was designed for the first generation templating system for Connections. This code was removed almost a year ago in prep for the fourth generation templating system was just put in place. Sorry, but there’s no way around it, you’re going to have to update the template to be compatible. You can refer to the template in the “card” template folder for proper construction for the third generation templating system. This require the template be named as template.php and a meta.php file,; both placed within a folder named pinetree. You can then put the pinetree folder in the connections_templates folder. I do have to caution that support for the third generation templating system will be removed at some point. Likely next year sometime. So…
If you know how to build plugins, you should refer to the names templates and recreate your custom template as a plugin. It’ll be quite some time, if ever, that this will change.
Hope that helps.

GuestHmmm – OK, so then if i purchase your “Market” template, will it remain compatible? Or will i need to keep buying different templates??

The short answer, yes. For as long as Market is a supported product it will be continually updated. cMap and Market are the two oldest templates, about three years now, if you look at the bottom of each product page, there is a change log, I only started to keep track of changes a little over a year ago, you can see that they do get semi-frequent updates. Both bug fixes and compatibility updates.
I hope that helps.

ParticipantHello Steven – i did purchase Market and got it to work… but i just realised that the custom template that was no longer working was bought through you. So basically i paid $65 for something that is no longer useful :(

I didn’t realize that the Pinetree template you were asking was one that I did. It actually took me several minutes to find the emails on the topic. I had done this template for you nearly 3 years ago. As you can image, I can’t support something forever without a maintenance fee.
However, since this was just a really minor name change of the template file and quickly adding a meta.php file. I just emailed you a copy that’ll work. You’ll have to use the legacy template installer on the Connections : Templates admin page. Do not try to install it as a plugin. Why, because moving this template to the new plugin template model would require a much larger time investment to completely rewrite it.
Let me know if you have any troubles.

ParticipantThanks for that. i did not realize it until i was adding the new template to my billing. Anyhow, since i have already purchaed the new market template and spent time configuring it, make no sense to go back to the older one.
