    Hi I just used the output all feature ( Yay ) and found three instances of minor trouble.

    1) Using “Organization” as a to hold names LastName, FirstName . I appears that the comma creates trouble.

    2) Likewise in the “Contact Name” the comma again causes trouble in “,Jr.” or”,Ph.D”.

    3)Something between (or the absence of something between) Organization and Department causes all the headers to shift one column to the left

    Hmmm… I am not able to duplicate this. Can I get a copy of the CSV file with the issue?

    In organization, the input is Abrams, Maxine. So I think the problem starts there. The problem seems to be replicated wherever there is a comma.

    There is a similar issue in the Biography; where everything spills over, and generally cancels out the ID number on the next entry.

    I vaguely recall this has to do with escaping, but I haven’t written a line of code in over 10 years so..not much help.

    I’m looking at the CSV file and it seems fine. It is properly escaped and it seems to open fine with everything being in the correct columns. Perhaps the app that you are opening it in is not properly importing the CSV file. What app are you using?

    I’m using Excel Starter 2010. I just looked at it in VEdit and you are right.

    This Excel version doesn’t ask you for any delimiter information like other versions of Excel I’ve used. I assumed it got smarter, but I guess not.

    It probably read the commas, but not the quotes.

    Sorry for the scare.

    Excel is an excellent program I use to use it a lot… but still amazes me that it still after all these years it has trouble with basic CSV files :/

    Since I do not have much need for a spreadsheet app nowadays I use LibreOffice Calc since it is free… works great for CSV files and it gives you a lot of options with a preview before importing, so I recommend using it.

    I’ve also read the the Google Spreadsheet handles CSV files pretty well too.
