ParticipantWe’d like to use this plugin for a group that needs a printed group directory. The new CSV output will be great as soon as I can find some software to import it in an address book/ phone directory format.
But I just realized that the exporter needs an option to select between the three privacy levels or we could end up disclosing unlisted or private information:
– Public: outputs all data marked Public
– Private: outputs all data marked public or private
– Confidential: outputs all dataAdditionally, we’d like to be able to group the data by Family where the family record is exported above each set of family members with different field names.
Any chance this could happen soon?

re: But I just realized that the exporter needs an option to select between the three privacy levels or we could end up disclosing unlisted or private information:
One of the columns in the CSV export is “Visibility” which will be public, private or unlisted. You can use Excel to filter these accordingly. That said, the export will not have the visibility of the individual addresses, phone, email and such. Is that what you are asking to be exported?

Sorry, this is not possible. There is no way to order and group them like this. Not a perfect solution, but you could sort the CSV file in Excel by last name.

Yes, some people don’t mind publishing their name and address, but may have unlisted phone numbers, or birthdays, cell phones, and email addresses they don’t want to give out.

Sorry to hear that. Just to be sure you understand, we’d like to be able to print like this:
Smith, John and Mary Jones-Smith

Anytown, ST 12345
Home: (234) 567-7654John Smith
Cell: (123) 456-7890

Birthday: Jan 5thMary Jones-Smith
Email: mary@example.comDaughter Smith
Instagram: dsmithIs there any way to add the related family fields to the exported person record?

Ok, the CSV export will now export the visibility of address, phone, email and dates. This will be in the next update planned for later this week. You should be able to use Excel to filter out the data you do not want.
re: Is there any way to add the related family fields to the exported person record?
Sorry, no. There is no way that I can think of to export the relational data for the families like you need.

ParticipantAwesome. Any estimate when you will be able to get to the rest of the fields that support the private and unlisted property? Does this update include the individual as well (e.g. someone that wants their entire record unlisted)?

re: Any estimate when you will be able to get to the rest of the fields that support the private and unlisted property?
I just added Link, Social Media and Instant Messaging visibility to the export so it will be included in the next update. So this should be all fields that support the option to set the visibility.
re: Does this update include the individual as well (e.g. someone that wants their entire record unlisted)?
This is already included in the export. Look for the “Visibility” column. That column reflects the visibility status for the entire entry record.

ParticipantJust downloaded the update, but since there are multiple visibility fields in each row there is no way to use Excel to filter the data correctly.
I would suggest that you have dropdown boxes next to the Export buttons with the three choices of privacy restrictions and filter them on the export.

ParticipantIt would also be helpful to have a checkbox to only export preferred information.
Better yet, select between exporting just the preferred info or adding a preferred field or indicator of some kind.
Not sure what would be best to make it easy to mail merge.

Sorry, but I do not plan on adding export options at this time.
To filter in Excel, first set the header row to auto filter. The on the main visibility column select the filter to show unlisted entries and then delete those. Now all unlisted entries are removed from the file. Next filter by the home address visibility, select the unlisted. Delete all home addresses which are unlisted (not deleting the entire row, only the home address columns in the affected rows). Remove the filter Repeat with each address type and data type (phone, email and such). The file now has all unlisted data removed. You could repeat these steps to remove private too if needed.
Hope that helps.
