ParticipantI’m trying to import a CSV file of Chamber of Commerce members. They’re business only- no individuals or families. I’ve downloaded the Excel file from your website, copied and pasted the content from my Excel file to the correct headings in your file, then exported to CSV to import into Connections. The import uploads and appears to be mapping correctly but all members are uploaded as individuals. Editing in “Connections : Manage” and changing to “Organization” does not retain all the imported data such as Contact Name and Web Site. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,

Here are the rules that the CSV Import uses…
If you have first/last name in the CSV file and they are mapped to their respective fields and those fields are not empty in the CSV, it will be imported as an
Individual. If you have first/last name in the CSV file and they are mapped to their respective fields and those fields are empty in the CSV, it will be imported as an
Organizationif there is an organization field in the CSV file and it is not empty and it is mapped to its respective field. If you do not have first/last name in the CSV file, it will be imported as an
Organizationif there is an organization field in the CSV file and it is not empty and it is mapped to its respective field. You could also skip the auto logic and add an
Entry Typecolumn to the CSV and set it to beorganizationon every row. You will lose anything in the CSV file in the first/last name columns if you have those set because an organization can not have a first/last name. You should map to the contact first/last name instead.Hope that helps.

ParticipantThank you for pointing me in the right direction and making me think creatively. I moved all my organization first and last names to department first and last names and the import worked beautifully.
