ParticipantCan I import family type records through CSV import? If so, how do I show relationships (e.g. Jones Family, Bob – Spouse, Nancy – Spouse).

Sorry, no, Families can not be imported. Only the individuals. After you import the individuals you can then create the families.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantI would like to request this as a new feature. while it is easy to create families when manually entering individuals, it is difficult when using the CSV import to create many directory entries at once.

I have added this to my feature request list. The only way I can see this being possible is as a second CSV import because all individuals would need to exist first and the second CSV file would have to contain the entry ID/s of the individual family members so they could properly be created. Honestly not sure which would actually be faster manually creating the families after import of the individuals or creating a CSV file with the required entry ID/s so they can be imported. Either would be quite a bit of work.

GuestI have had luck importing Familys as Organizations. And then when I go in to manually assign the family members I first switch the organization to family.
The importer worked for organizations but not familys.

GuestUmmm… Loop through the records and create an array of Families and an array of Individuals. If there are Families create them so the ID’s exist. Then loop through the Individuals.

Looping thru is not really possible. The CSV file is chucked and those chunks are imported one at a time. Looping thru a CSV file which could contain tens of thousands or more would crush most inexpensive shared hosts.
