ParticipantHi Steven,
when will contact be released? It sounds like a very useful extension for us.

ParticipantHey Steven
Sounds like Contact might also meet one of my client’s needs. We’d like to be able to send emails to addresses in the Directory, singly, to a distribution list and to all. Hope this will be a feature!
Can you advise on an ETA for the Contact extension and whether it will be able to do such emailing.
Thanks

honestly, I started this extension twice and haven’t finished it. Ran into minor obstacles each time that would prevent it from working. So, what I’m doing is cleaning up my templating code to make sure it it’ll working perfectly. My eta for the update to connections was the end of March (originally the end of November) … I think I am at most a couple weeks from being completely finished … its a major release. Not much will look different but there are huge code changes. Contact will follow shortcode after its release. As far as features, It will be only to allow a site visitor to email the entry within Connections without exposing the email address. It will not have any bulk email capabilities.
I hope this thoroughly answers your question!

GuestWe really need this. As a networking organization the ROT13 doesn’t work for us, because users can highlight the directory, copy and paste and develop an email list that way. So I’d really like to see this and we are willing to pay for it, too! Hoping after seeing your post on 4/7/14 saying it’s coming in a few weeks that you are almost done :) Thank you!

ParticipantHi Steven
Checking in to see if there’ll soon be a way for admins to send a bulk-email to all or a sub-set of members in the directory? It can be really useful when updating policies and practices, sending newsletters, etc. for an organization.06/03/2014 at 2:52 pm #292851Steven Zahm

Sorry, but it will likely be some time before I start work on any type of bulk emailing solutions.

ParticipantI have just installed Connections and really like the way it works so I bought the bundle of extensions a new templates.
Only thing is that now I have set up categories it seems that is not possible to email a whole group, only an individual.is this correct?
If true I will need to get a different system as this is essential.
Is there a way to email through mail chimp or something like that?

re: it seems that is not possible to email a whole group, only an individual.is this correct?
Yes, that is correct.
re: Is there a way to email through mail chimp or something like that?
You could use phpMyAdmin or similar tool to export the email address from the {prefix}_connections_email table as a CSV file to import into a MailChimp or similar service.
Hope that helps!
