Connections : Roles & Capabilities –> Upon edit, when checking the checkboxes to allow different Capabilities on a specific Role, after update, we do not see the role change any Capabilities. For instance, if we want to view admin bar or hide admin bar, nothing changes, we do not know why..02/06/2018 at 4:01 pm #450303
You as as admin would not see any changes, you will always have all capabilities. Also… Connections Roles Capabilities has nothing to do with the admin bar.02/06/2018 at 7:24 pm #450327Steven KassGuestThis reply has been marked as private.02/06/2018 at 8:49 pm #450328
You need to give the View Admin Menu capability too. The items underneath can not be displayed if the top level item is not shown. Hope that makes sense.
I do not think you want to do this though.. giving everyone with the Customer role these capabilities as it will give them all access to the admin page with the ability to edit any entry within the database. If you are looking to have your users have the ability to maintain their own directory entry, yout need the Link extension. You would then give the Customer role only the Add/Edit Moderated capabilities.
Hope this helps!02/07/2018 at 11:39 am #450431Lynda RoseParticipantThis reply has been marked as private.02/07/2018 at 12:09 pm #450466
I logged in change the password to the skass**** user to the same password as you gave my account. I logged in as that user and it was indeed linked. Both the View My Directory Entry and the Edit My Entry links were shown. These would not show if they were not linked. What exactly is the issue? The one thing I see is that you’ve blocked access User’s admin profile page. So the user will not be able to edit their entry. To add frontend editing capabilities you’ll need the Form extension. I would have recommended it sooner but unfortunately our discussion has not taken us that direction until now.
I hope this helps.
ps. You can tell when an entry is link on the Connections : Manage admin page. Look at your test entry in the admin under the “Last Modified” column.02/07/2018 at 12:37 pm #450468Lynda RoseParticipantThis reply has been marked as private.02/07/2018 at 12:42 pm #450469
RE: I do not know where to change this setting. We see the link to go to edit the user’s profile when logged in as the user, but it is not allowing that user to go there – we keep getting brought back to the front end “dashboard” page. This user is not allowed to see the actual wordpress dashboard at all.
I do not know the setting either … it is something that is configured with one of the other plugins. Be guss the WooCommerce memberships plugin. One of the other plugins that is installed is blocking access to the User’s admin profile page and redirecting the user to the dashboard page.
Like I mentioned, you’ll need to add frontend editing capabilities you’ll need the Form extension. To add frontend editing capabilities since the User’s admin profile page is blocked.
