GuestHi there,
What is the status of Connections in relation to Multisite? I read the multisite in single mode article and got the impression it is possible to run a single installation and share information across all the sub-domains within the single installation.
I would like to have a UK directory with a separate website HUB for each region within the UK. However, when I do a search I would want to return directory entries for individuals/organisations on the borders of regional boundaries. If I could reference a global directory this would solve the problem perfectly. Otherwise it’s complicated and involves duplication.
Is this possible? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Connections is multi-site compatible, but has to be activated on each site individually, it can not be network activated.
If you
CN_MULTISITE_ENABLED
toFALSE
in thewp-config.php
file in a multisite setup, Connections will use a common database on each subsite in which it is activated. This means all subsites will have the same data instead of a database dedicated/isolated to the subsite. Hope that makes sense. So, it seems you want to run Connections in single-site mode in a multisite setup. If that is the case you would setCN_MULTISITE_ENABLED
toFALSE
in thewp-config.php

GuestJust tried it and it works! You’ve sold it to me. What a great plugin. If only I could do this for posts, my life would be a lot simpler. Do the settings on each Connections activation operate independently? Do I need to be aware of any potential conflicts, between the individual Connections installationg that is? Thanks, Steve.

The settings should be independent in each subsite and there is not any conflicts that I’m aware of. All I can say is I know at two others are running Connections like this and they seemed satisfied with the results.
