ParticipantI was installing a user roles plugin to allow my client’s member services person to edit the connections directory without allowing her into other parts of the admin section. It somehow altered the admin role and now I cannot see the connections dashboard at all. I uninstalled the user roles plugin and “restored” the admin role but still cannot access the connections back end. Any ideas? (Still a staging site.)

Sounds like the plugin wiped all custom roles and capabilities. WP saves this permanently in the database so when the change is made, it’s permanent (meaning uninstalling a plugin which makes such a change will not undo the change).
This FAQ has steps which will reset the core Connections roles/capabilities.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantOMG – THANK YOU SO MUCH! Fixed it. You are a savior! I really didn’t want to have to roll it back.

ParticipantSo the question is: Is there a good user role plugin that won’t cause such a conflict?
I cannot let this woman into other parts of the website’s back end, she will ruin it! I’m hesitant to even let her into the directory.

Not really an endorsement.. but in supporting others I run into the [Admin Menu Editor plugin](Admin Menu Editor) quite a few times. Seems pretty nice. I also like the Members plugin. You could use both together since they do different functions. With Members you could create a highly tweaked “Client” role and then use Admin Menu Editor and the Client role to create a trimmed down admin.
