    You need to use the exclude_category shortcode option.

    yes I tried this and yes it eliminates the category from the page but our team members still show within the directory. Is there a way to also block the content within this particular category from showing within our business directory?

    For some reason it is now working. Took a few minutes to take hold for some reason. Our team is not showing in the business directory now.

    No problem!

    Oh, if you’re using caching of any sort, you need to make sure to clear it after making adjustments to the shortcode or your changes will not be reflected until the cache expires.
