What you are referring to is from this tutorial on how to only show results after a search. It is an advanced tutorial, but it is pretty thorough if you want to give it a try.

I have tried the snippet creation referred to in the tutorial and thought I did everything right. Results are still being displayed on the search page http://jonesboroughumc.com/?page_id=251.

Ok, the issue was due to that the WP Permalink settings was “Plain”. I changed it to “Post name” which is a preferred choice.
I actually did not realize that permalinks needed to be enabled for this to work, I’ll have to add a little note in the tutorial.
