GuestHi Steven,
Thanks so much for your continued work on this project. What a great tool. I have a question that i can’t seem to find an answer to.
Back in 2013 you wrote in one of your posts that “premium templates are very configurable and can be made to show or hide any of the available entry details”.
What I’m needing is for individuals to be able to submit their information and can assign a specific field (such as ‘Home Phone’) to be private (maybe through a checkbox) but enable the rest of the information to be public. That way, when their information is searched by a non-admin the results will show their ‘Address’, ‘Work Phone’, ‘Email’, etc. but will NOT show their ‘Home Phone’ as it is ‘set’ to private.
Also, if a person is an admin they can log in and will be able to view the content of an individual whether it is private or public.
Does this make sense? Do you have a suggestion for how this could be accomplished?

Yes, this can easily be done … when adding a “Home Phone” change the Visibility to either Private or Unlisted. This can also be done with addresses, email, links, dates and social media.
Private means the info can be seen by a logged in user if they have been assigned the View Private capability as set on the Connections : Roles admin page. SAme for Unlisted, except, by default, only the admin can view.
Hope that helps!

GuestThanks for the response. I can’t believe I missed that.
Just one more question; can I set individual fields in the CSV file to be private and others public? For example, I need some phone numbers to be private (as requested by the user) and others for the same contact to be public. I have 1000 or more entries and it would help if I could simply type in what is private or public for the CVS file.
Thanks again!

Sorry, no, not possible. After all these years I believe you’re the first to ask. I’ll add it to my feature request list for the CSV Import … should be relatively simple enough to add. Each field type that can be mapped to would need a visibility map so that can be added/mapped to the source CSV file. Right now, the only solution is to not import the number, sorry.

GuestSteven,
Thanks for your quick response and for adding this feature request to your list. I look forward to future updates! Thanks, as well, for all the time and energy you put into this plugin and to responding to people like me.
Best,
