ParticipantI apologise if this has been mentioned or answered etc…
Excellent product. I have imported from a csv file a short sample of a sub-category and all worked fine but i want to ask ( i am currently using the cMap template ).When the directory page loads i obviously get the small drop-down box for the option to select a category.
QUESTIONS
1/. Is there a way where no business gets displayed yet ( i have seen this on other sites that use your product ), once i get to the page ? Because at the moment everything shows up on the page and i would want it neater without any business showing up until the user picks the sub-category.2/. Bu when i click my sub-category in the drop-down box i dont get the businesses i entered, it just comes up with “no results”. Is this a short-code required element or something in the backend of “connections” that i need to setup ?
Hope i explained that right.
Thank you

1/. Sorry, nothing officially supported. However, see this support topic reply. It offers a method that can be used to enable this.
2/. The issue is that, likely the theme, has included an HTML shim script. The purpose of these shim scripts is to enable HTML5 features in browsers that do not support them. They work pretty well … but, there seems to be a bug in this shim script.
When you click on a category, the “Search” placeholder string in the search box is being sent too. So you’re actually searching for “Search” within the category being clicked. Obviously not what we want to do.
The fix will be to remove the “Search” placeholder text. To do this easily, we can use another plugin.
Changing the search string can be done with the Say What? plugin.
It’ll add a new Text Changes menu item. Click Add New, enter the string exactly as shown in Connections,
Search
. Next enter connections [notice the lack of capitalization, that's important!] as the domain and then enter your new text. The new text you want to add will be nothing, leave it blank. That should fix it.Hope that helps!

GuestThank you for the response Steven.
I have found a work through by adding the search via a widget in the sidebar and added the shortcode to remove the search option on the home directory page.
My next question is:- Once i get to the initial main “home” page there are listings there. Is there a way to have no listings on the initial homepage the website that the visitors will get to when they first click to get to the directory ? EG. Just showing the dropdown box.
Thank you
