ParticipantHi,
I bought the cMap template due to the comments in the demo section about “if you like the Market template, but want a responsive layout, you should use the cMap template.” Thus, it sounded as though the two templates would allow similar layouts, yet they do not.
I want a responsive template, but I also want to be able to list the category selections in a sidebar. I have 30+ options in one of my categories and 4 options in a second category. For desktop users I would like the end user to be able to see all of their choices at a glance like on this sample site: http://acectn.com/get-connected/member-directory/. The drop down is fine for mobile users. How can I make that happen?
Thanks in advance,

ParticipantI think I found a post with suggestions to make this work the way I was planning. But I now have another question….
How do I change the size/location of the Select Category dropdown bar? It is currently the full width of my column. I would like it shorter and to line up on the same line as the Alpha selections, like in your demos.
Thanks!

The width, that really depend. The first item that would determine width is the longest string length of the names. But mostly the width will be determined by the theme style for drop downs. If it is full width, then the theme has styled dropdowns widths to be 100%. The only way to “fix” this is to add a CSS statement which would override the theme. What this CSS statement is really depends on the theme. I see you decided to go back to the Market template… I would need to see the directory using the cMap template in order to give you the correct CSS statement to get what you want.

ParticipantDawn,
I manage the ACEC site you mentioned. We are looking to make the Connections mobile responsive. How did you make this work? Can you provide a reference site? Thanks.04/26/2016 at 5:04 pm #374273Dawn Harris
GuestHi Mary,
The WordPress theme used on our site was built to be responsive. Then I used the cMap template option within Connections to make sure that part was responsive. I did have to manually add the sidebar with hard links to the sections I wanted them to display.
Hope this helps,

As Dawn mentioned, you would have to switch to the cMap template (any of the others, but I recommend cMap for your site)
