Sorry for the noob question, my skill set is pretty limited.
Installed Connections.
Successfully added categories.
Successfully added 1 listing.
Created new page with shortcode [connections]
On that page I see the 1 listing, and it tells me which categories it is assigned to. But I don’t see a page with displaying the categories. Does that require a certain template or extension, or is the software not working?
Also, I have had another WP installation for a long time, and the editor has a visual and an html tab. This new version of WP which I just installed has visual and text, not html. Is something wrong?
Tks for your help.

There is not a category listing. Several of the template that are available offer a searchable category drop down. Also, the is the Widget Pack which includes a category widget which can be placed in the theme’s sidebar.
The Visual and Text tabs are a WordPress feature … in newer versions of WordPress Text means the same thing as HTML.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the lightning-fast response, Steven. And thanks for addressing my off-topic Q about the html and text tabs. I guess we are supposed to deduce that text is now the same as the old html tab.
What I am looking for is a home page (or failing that, a categories page) which displays a clickable list of categories and sub-categories. That seems like such a standard, obvious directory feature, I am surprised it is not a part of Connections. Or did I misunderstand your answer?
Tks for clarifying.

BTW, I have temporarily deactivated Connections so I can try that Brand X Business Directory plugin (whose name we dare not speak!)
and it does what I am describing. However, it gets to be v. expensive for multiple sites, which makes your $75 much more attractive if it does what I want
