I have read through all of the support questions and I have found the shortcodes to display one category or list the categories by ID’s but I have ALOT of categories in our clients directory and are constantly adding new ones and need to be able to display a directory of categories – then dropdowns of the businesses in that category once clicked. Example Categories = Attorney, Doctor, Plumber, Veterinarian.
http://hrrussell.com/directory/ this is the main directory with all of the businesses but need a similar look on a different page for the categories.

I am working on a new extension which sounds like it might do what you want. Just so I understand… what you are looking for is something that simply lists all the categories and when you click a category link, it will display the business within that category. Is that correct?

Yes Steven, That is correct. We are needing a layout/design that is similar to the Yellowpages. So pleased to hear that you are already working on an extension. Do you have any idea as to a timeframe of completion so we can inform our client?

Ok, I’ll send it your way. Also, it just now occurred to me you’ll also need a beta copy of the next Connections release because there is code that exists in it that will be required for the Advanced Categories extension. You should install the beta Connections before installing the Category extension.

Oh, I guess I should give some usage instructions :)

On the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab you found a new Categories sections this contains all the relevant settings. I think they all make sense. I’d appreciate any feedback that you can give on the settings names and description text.

Also, on the same page/tab in the Result List Actions section you’ll find a new option to display a view all categories page which you can choose to enable.

There only other item I can think of is the “Add Image” option on the Connections : Categories” admin page, that is not functional at the moment as that particular feature is still under development.
