    Is it possible to display a category select and possibly search in the card or card-single template? Below is the shortcode I am using and it is not working.

    [connections template="card" category=3 show_links='FALSE' show_empty_categories='FALSE' enable_category_select='TRUE' enable_search='TRUE' image_fallback="none" email_format="%address%" phone_format="%number%" color="#333333"]

    The issue is that you are forcing the display to use the Default Entry Card template with this template="card". That template does not support search and category filtering.

    I suggest removing that option from the shortcode and then navigating to the Connections : Templates admin page and activating the cMap template which does support these features.

    You can also remove show_links='FALSE' and enable_category_select='TRUE' enable_search='TRUE' because those features are on by default in cMap.
