ParticipantDear Steven,
somehow I managed to import all the Data from an old Installation into the latest version of Connection.
I would like to again use the cMap template. I installed it as a plugin as advised.
Now I get this error code (and don’t see the template to activate):
Warning: is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/vhosts/gervas.org/Tierakupunktur.gervas.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/connections/templates/~README.txt/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/gervas.org/:/tmp/) in /var/www/vhosts/gervas.org/Tierakupunktur.gervas.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/template/class.template-api.php on line 341
What can I do?
Another question: I had the old cMap altered to my needs. Can I use the old style.css? Or do I have to redo the changes?
Thank you for your help

The open_basedir issue is being caused by your web hosts configuration. The solution I gave in this post will fix the issue. The specific file you’ll need to delete is:
../wp-content/plugins/connections/templates/~README.txt/
It is just a simple text file so it is safe to delete.
Another question: I had the old cMap altered to my needs. Can I use the old style.css? Or do I have to redo the changes?
Maybe, depends on the changes. The only way to know is to try. You say older version of cMap. How old? What’s the version? Are you sure it is the plugin version of cMap … templates didn’t use to be plugins like they are now so if it is a really old version you may need to install it using the legacy template installer on the bottom of the Connections : Templates admin page. Sorry for the non-specific answer but it is hard to answer without knowing the changes and what version of the template you’re using.10/21/2014 at 4:42 pm #307811karin
ParticipantDear Steven,
I deleted the Readme.txt – and both error messages vanished. My “old” version of cMap is 1.0.
I copied the folder to the wp_content folder. It contains cMap, Market and Tile-plus. Market and Tile-plus are shown, when I look at “all” templates. cMap is missing. I can activate cMap under the button “Person”.
When I activated the latest connection-version I also downloaded the new cMap because I thought I had to (new progrmam – new template…) That’s why I used the new cMap-Version.
After trying several times, cMap is now showing and I could activate it. I haven’t a clue why…
Anyway, the looks of old and new are quite different:
http://www.gervas.org/akupunktur-tierarzte-in-meiner-nahe/That’s how it used to look
That is the up-to-date-Version: http://tierakupunktur.gervas.org/wordpress/akupunktur-tierarzte-in-meiner-nahe/
When I look at the entries in the front end, they contain the names and the addresses, phone-numbers etc. When I go to the backend to alter the dates, there are no addresses, no phone-numbers, only the names. The fields are empty.
And last (but not least…) I do not get all entries shown. It stops after 30 entries or so. When I press the button “view all” it shows me a list of ALL entries. I can’t click on one because then there is no result…
I think I have to start all over and include the necessary dates (136 files) by hand.
Can you please tell me, which files I have to change to change the looks in front? Is there a full documentation somewhere? I know there is the css-file.
Found only one…In Germany we show the addresses differently to the US-Adresses. It’s always have to have the zip-code first, then the City.
I am really a bit frustrated. I’ve been sitting here for hours now and can’t solve the problems. I just don’t have enough knowledge of php and maybe even css…
Please help or advise me to another template to match my needs: Would like to have the category pulldown or any other way of sorting all entrys by Zipcode (so customers can find a person near their home). Would also like to add a photo.
Thank you very much for your time and always quick answers!

ParticipantI forgot:
All Templates you offer, contain far too many possibilities for me.
I only need:
Name and address field (only one Address, no Departement)
A text field for their profession
A text field for what they specialize in
Telephone
Email
Internet
And a PhotoNothing else -no anniversary, no birthday etc.
Something just like a business card…

First, on the new site you’re still using the old cMap version 1.0, not the new. You should really use the new version. To do this, delete the cMap files from here:
../wp-content/connections_templates/cmap/
Install the new version as a plugin, like you would install any other plugin in WordPress, do not copy the files from the zip file into the old folder as that will not work.
After you install cMap as a plugin, activate it as a plugin on the Plugins admin page.
Now cMap will show up on the Connections: Templates admin page and can be activated for use on that page.
re: Anyway, the looks of old and new are quite different:
You’re using the template in two different themes … the templates are designed to pick/use styles from the theme. That is why you see the font style differences.re: When I look at the entries in the front end, they contain the names and the addresses, phone-numbers etc. When I go to the backend to alter the dates, there are no addresses, no phone-numbers, only the names. The fields are empty.
This almost has to be directly related to not importing all the Connections tables from the source site to the destination site. You must import all these tables:- connections
- connections_address
- connections_phone
- connections_email
- connections_messenger
- connections_social
- connections_link
- connections_date
- connections_meta
- connections_terms
- connections_term_taxonomy
- connections_term_relationships
**NOTE: the table names above do not include the WordPress table prefix which defaults to
wp_
but can be anything.re: And last (but not least…) I do not get all entries shown. It stops after 30 entries or so.
The best I can tell … it appears all entries show on this page:
http://tierakupunktur.gervas.org/wordpress/akupunktur-tierarzte-in-meiner-nahe/view/all/Also are on this page:
http://tierakupunktur.gervas.org/wordpress/akupunktur-tierarzte-in-meiner-nahe/I really do not recommend showing so many entries on a single page for the same reasons WordPress limit the number of posts per page to 5 (or maybe it is 10). The old cMap 1.0 did not support pagination, I think, its been way too long now for me to remember. But the new version does. It’ll default to 20 per page.
re: When I press the button “view all” it shows me a list of ALL entries. I can’t click on one because then there is no result…
This is very likely related to an incomplete import as noted above.re: Can you please tell me, which files I have to change to change the looks in front? Is there a full documentation somewhere? I know there is the css-file.
Found only one…
The older 1.0 version can be found here:
../wp-content/connections_templates/cmap/
The new version can be found here:
../wp-content/plugins/connections-cmap/
Here’s the doc page for creating custom CSS for a template, but this only applies to the new version.
http://connections-pro.com/2014/05/07/quicktip-custom-css-templates/re: In Germany we show the addresses differently to the US-Adresses. It’s always have to have the zip-code first, then the City.
Yes, I know. I was actually born in Frankfurt on the US military base. Unfortunately I was way too young to remember when we left to remember it. Any way… with the new cMap you can use theaddr_format
shortcode option. See this doc page for more.re: Would like to have the category pulldown
The new version of cMap has a category drop down.re: sorting all entrys by Zipcode
See the doc page for the order_by shortcode option.re: Would also like to add a photo.
cMap, by default shows a logo, but the new version can be changed to show the photo instead by using theimage
shortcode option. Here’s an example:[connections image="photo"]
**NOTE: this will only work with the new cMap.
re: All Templates you offer, contain far too many possibilities for me.
Only enter the details you want to be shown. A template will not show blank spots for details you do not enter. Alternatively, if you want to enter data but not have it shown, cMap has shortcode option to turn them off so they are not displayed.Additionally, On the Add/Edit Entry admin pages you have the option of hiding fieldsets that you do not need. Click the
Screen Options
tab in the upper right corner of the browser window. This will not affect what is shown in the template but like I said, if you do not enter something, it will not be shown. One last thing … I gave you many shortcode options. This is important. You do not add a new shortcode for each option, you add all options to the same shortcode. Here’s an example which shorts the entries by zip code and changes the address format to have the zip code first.
[connections order_by="zipcode" addr_format="%label% %line1% %line2% %line3% %zipcode% %state% %city% %country%"]
Again, this will only work with the new cMap, not the old.
re: I am really a bit frustrated. I’ve been sitting here for hours now and can’t solve the problems. I just don’t have enough knowledge of php and maybe even css…
For a small fee of $50 I can properly migrate and setup the new cMap template for you.I really hope this helps! I think I’ve answered all questions and I hope I did thoroughly!

ParticipantDear Steven,
Yes, you really answered all my questions thorowly. But there is still one Question left:
You told me, which tables to export and named them. Well, in the old cMap Version there are only four:
Connectons
Connections_terms
connections_term_relationship
connections_term_taxonomyMaybe that’s why not all addresses migrate.
I just wonder why the addresses show in the front end, not in the back.
The offer of 50 $ is worth considering. Would you that, even with the facts told now?
Thank you ever so much!

re: You told me, which tables to export and named them. Well, in the old cMap Version there are only four
You must have been running a very, very old version of Connections on the old site for the other tables not to exist. Something like 0.6 or something. The only way updating would have been supported is if you updated as there were updates to Connections released. It in from 0.7 on onward where updates to the database would happen automatically. The data from the old site can still be used, but it would take an expert to handle by properly forcing update routines in a very specific order.
re: I just wonder why the addresses show in the front end, not in the back.
Connections use to store and edit all the data in theconnections
table. Now there are all the other tables. The data is still saved in the mainconnections
table but it is now used as a cached for displaying data only. This is done for performance and to keep the number of database queries to a minimum. When you edit an entry in the new Connections, you actually edit the data in the other tables, which for you do not exist, which is why you can see it but not edit it. I hope that clears up why!re: The offer of 50 $ is worth considering. Would you that, even with the facts told now?
Yes, the offer would remain the same. It should only take me a little longer to do the proper updates so the tables are created and the data migrated. If you would like me to do this … I’ll require is FTP access to both sites. I will also need admin access to both sites. And I will need access to phpMyAdmin on both sites. The login details can be sent using the contact link at the bottom of the page. After I receive that, I’ll send a PayPal invoice to your email address for payment and I’ll being work immediately.
10/22/2014 at 2:57 pm #307869karin
ParticipantYou did not get the facts right: The old site does not exist anymore. I still have access to the old database. But the site was moved to another provider.
I have downloaded everything via ftp, saved all date from the old database.
You can’t update cMap on the old place… :-(
The version shown was 1.0
I don’t have ftp-control over the old place anymore. Can only access mysql database and the backup-server.
Are you still able to help? Payment is no problem…

It might be a bit more difficult, but I do believe I can fix it with access to only the new server. Send me the login details and I’ll try to get this fixed asap.
