GuestI updated the plug-in and the Circled template and now the Biographical Info is displaying on the main page. I only want that info to appear when you click into the individual connections.

What is the exact shortcode you are using on that page?

Very curious, I can not replicate the issue. If you can give me a temp WP admin login, I’ll take a closer look. The login details can be posted here as a private reply.

Thanks. I will login tomorrow afternoon and take a look. I’m away from my office today. Apologies for the delay.

Ok, I was able to replicate, finally. Here’s how to fix… but first, why.
The first release of Circled used a core WordPress function
wp_trim_words()
to create and display the excerpt. This is actually quite a “brute force” function. It basically ignores all HTML tags and strips text to an exact number of words not taking into account for punctuation and sentences.The latest version of Circled uses a custom excerpt function in Connections which is much smarter, respecting HTML tags and sentences. An excerpt will only end at the end of a sentence ( a period, an exclamation or question mark ).
The bio of your entries actually very few sentences that end with punctuation which results in some bios to show in full and the others at what seemingly seems random lengths.
To fix…
- Add punctuation, or
- Add
excerpt_length="p"
to the existing shortcode. The problem with using this option many of your bios being with a ‘p’ tag which contains nothing but a non-breaking space, or - Create a custom override template file which uses the
wp_trim_words()
to create the excerpt if you like that result better. I can help with this, I would need a FTP login.
Hope this helps, let me know.

GuestThanks!
The excerpt_length=”p” worked, with a couple modifications to a few connections.
